Honda 2200 on front hitch...possible overheating?

I have a platform in which I can carry my Honda 2200 on a front hitch I had installed on my 2013 RAM. The hitch mount on this truck is much higher than most other trucks, so high that when I place the generator on it, it blocks a good portion of the front radiator.

Has anyone carried something like this that would block airflow on this truck?

Thanks all!

One of my off season projects last year was to install a Torklift front hitch for a Torklift carrier with a 2200i. This hitch mounts high. My summer travels took us over mountain passes without issue.

I used to run with a 36"w x 20"h box on my Ram 2015 or 2018 (aisn trans) front hitch rack. in heat of summer I could see a little temp gain on truck gauge in heavy traffic but not enough to worry about.

I've driven this across country several times in summer heat. No problems with engine overheating. I do see a slight rise in tranny temp but not enough to worry about.

.... Also remember that you are driving a 7 year old vehicle ( mileage not stated ) and parts do wear out & radiators & coolers donโ€™t get plugged up compounding the restricted air flow issue; something to consider.... Iโ€™ve had some experience in dealing with these issues...

I think I would modify the carrier you have to lower its height. Look at drop pintle hitch mounts.

.....if your truck is in need of repair.

OP you wont have issues. My radiator, the fins are about 80% smashed flat. The kids did it over 10 years ago when they were little.

I carried a small amount of wood on a front hitch and my truck overheated. It was due to the fan clutch not engaging. The fix was to get a new fan clutch. So, it is definitely possible to overheat even with small blockage.

Unless its right up against the body its not blocking the airflow anymore than the big flat plastic Ford Grill bars do. Unless Ram builds trucks with crappy cooling systems that is

Your generator sits much lower than mine does. I will post a picture. My set up that generator will be covering ALL of that front grill area, covering the FORD emblem easily.
