How long do you plan to keep your TV

The Chinese vehicle thread...now ask how long do you plan to keep your brand new TV?

Chinese Vehicles page 6

My sig says I'm not one to change mine out every few years...so my view on this topic skewed to high levels of maintenance & quality of materials/labor/etc

The 1980 C10 Silverado dad gave me is going to go soon...not willing to spend the time & money anymore. After several engines (even a built one where I've caught both daughters beating up Muscle Cars out on the local boulevard).

Nothing right or wrong...just personal opinions and choices...

Looking for demographics of what is driving the current OEM offerings and know their demographics is way larger than what this forum represents...but this one, IMHO, critical to the future of TVs/SUVs/CUVs/etc

My truck is 13 years old with 88k miles. It gets us everywhere we want safely and without incident. If it keeps that up it will be our last truck.

If a special kind of deal popped up I could replace my current truck tomorrow otherwise I'm just as happy to keep it for another 3 or 4 years.

I generally keep all my vehicles until they are used up. I think I traded in a vehicle only once. I just donate them to the tech center down the street when they no longer serve my purpose.

Nice. That's a win-win for everyone.

Of the 3 vehicle we currently have the one with the lowest miles is about 189,000. My towing truck is 12 years old at 223,000. I don't plan to change anything for at least 5 years or so.
My father still owns his first car. It's a 1970 Chevelle and it's still sitting in his garage, a 47 year old garage kept one owner.

Depends on long it is before that come out with something way better. Even then I probably won't replace it I will just retire it like I did my 2005. I still love my 2005 and have zero plans to get rid of it. I enjoy running around in it on the weekends.

I would still have my 93 if my family had not out-grown it.

'54 Chevy project (not started yet), '73 Chevy with engine out (project stalled),'94 Chevy given to middle daughter (her project now), 2011 GMC that I drive once in a while as well as tow trailer with it. These are only the pickups (still have them all except 94 which daughter has). '56 Chevy promised to me, but won't count it until it is sitting in my driveway.

drive them till the wheels fall off

Problem is that some of us have the ability to keep putting them back on so they never really fall off for good.

I've finally retired my 33 year old Toyota pickup due to frame rot. We'll I actually welded some scab plates over the rust holes to squeak a few more years out of the vehicle, but it's retired now...until I return the US and then I might drive it again for a few more months...before retiring it for good...maybe.

I like my old truck and enjoy driving it. It's hard to give up on an old friend and even after 23 years, I've been legally obligated to my truck longer than I've been legally obligated to my wife, if only by a few months.

I put 20+30k miles per year on our vehicles so I ware them out before they are 15 yrs old. I try to sell and upgrade when it makes sense financially. There is a point you can sell and make enough money to help buy a new one. If you keep it too long then it's not worth anything. Since all my tow vehicles now have Cummins power, the truck falls apart before anything else.

I've got a 2002 1500HD with the 6.0 gasser with 207k miles on it. I bought it new to get a crewcab when we found out we were having another child. He turns 16 in 18 months, and he will get the truck, and I'll find me a 2-4 year old truck.

We just passed my wife's Honda Pilot down to my daughter that turned 16 this year, and it had 245k miles on it.

So I'm guessing we change cars about every 250k miles 🙂

With the price of cars and trucks now, and as well built as most of them are, I can't see trading cars all the time. The only advantage my wife's new car has over the old one is a little better gas mileage, and I do really like the Apple Car Play to integrate the phone with the car. It's really nice.
