how many years for a/c

I know that no one knows when something is going to break. But, there is a 1997 TC I want to go look at. I'm just wondering if any one knows the average life span of the a/c's on these things?

Yeah we can always use a porta pot if we find a good deal and it doesn't have a toilet. We will mostly be using the camper when we go 4 wheel riding and having my own shower sure sounds good.

We had a pop up years ago and had a porta pot. I really hated having to dump that thing and clean it. UGH I would much rather have one built in and let dh deal with the hose and dumping it. Better him than me! lol

I wish mine had a bathroom but I drive a Toyota Tacoma. 1ST thing I asked PJ @ Princess craft when I went to get mine was "Let's look inside that TC. I keep looking at my 6 foot bed and keep asking myself, what will actually fit in there". I think Travel Lite did very well with my 690FD. I carry a cassette toilet.

Ok, thanks y'all!! I couldn't talk dh into going to look at that one because it was a 2 hour drive. So, I'm still on the look out. And I was thinking I didn't want a shower in one but now am starting to rethink that also.

I would go into the deal adding no extra for the AC, figuring that it would need to be replaced. If it lasts then great and if it does not then you can get a new one installed for less than $1000.

A big factor is where the camper has been stored. In most areas it will not matter but a camper stored in areas with coastal fog can have the fins corrode away in 2-3 years.

They last longer or as long as the ones in your house. RV products are usually built to withstand bouncing down highways.
It also depends on how much use the previous owner used it . Once the a/c mfg. finds out one of theirs lasted 350 years they will be offering to buy and examine it to find out where they went wrong.

Depends on where you live - here in Western Wa. one should get about 350 years out of one. :R

I haven't checked out the modern RV ACs, but if they are using high pressure like the residential units, the new ones will be more efficient. I have a 1988 Avion 34' trailer and if I decide to use it again, and if the new ACs are more efficient, I will change it out even though the original still works.

My 1968 Avion C11 has what appears to be the original AC and it works fine.

I don't know about the average but I am aware of one that is 23 years old and still works fine. 1993 Dometic.
