How tight?

Having OCD, there are little stupid things that absolutely bug the snot out of me. One of those is how tight to you tighten down your stabilizer jacks after they make contact with the ground (or blocks). Do you go one turn past when it makes contact, do you go two turns?? What do you do?

I run mine down with the drill. I stop when the trailer frame starts to rise.

But you will always get some movement as long as the tires are sitting on the ground.

Some type of X-chock, either store bought or home made helps take a lot of movement out of the trailer.

X5 (or something like that).

It depends on the nature of the soil... More for sand, less for stone.

same here. I also find that if on softer ground I need to give a little more after a day or so to re-stabilize. This is determined by the amount of trailer wiggle while walking about inside.

Really? I find that 1 25/32" is much preferable.:W

I'll give 1 25/32" a try, but loosing that 1/16 may not work for me. What do you think about splitting the difference at 1 51/64"?

I'm experimenting with "3" on my Dewalt 18v clutch. Will see if that works under varying conditions.

๐Ÿ™‚ Hi, if parked on Concrete, I only go 1/2 turn after they hit the ground. If on something soft, like dirt, I go one full turn.

Actually it depends on how firm the ground is. I turn it til it feels tight without starting to lift the trailer frame. Might be 1/2 turn or 2 turns after it touches the ground.

I level trailer side to side with boards under low side wheels.
Then I put down pads under each jack then take them down till tight and then go one more turn. Old aircraft mechanic method.

Same here, but on my drill it's "20" (which is of course a totally made up number and will vary drill-to-drill). A wonderful way to get each stabilizer consistent every time without trying.
