I finally made the change

After several years of towing with a 1/2 ton I finally made the change to a 3/4 ton. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, campers in the shop for a couple minor repairs. My last truck was a 2015 Max Tow GMC, pulled my 9000lb trailer great but I was getting pushed around more than I wanted. My new truck is a 2015 RAM 2500 4X4 Laramie with the Cummins. All the Dodge haters please don't bash and ruin my excitement. Never owned a diesel, except for my farm tractor. I am very impressed by the power. Rides good, mileage is better than my old truck. I can't wait to get the trailer behind it.
Let me try the pic again

Amazing all the new RAM's on here, not much action form the other two. I can honestly see why, RAM has put out a truck that simply does the job well right out of the box.

I thinks it's a difference in personalities. Ford certainly sells a lot of trucks. I didn't come on here and start a thread about getting a new truck last year as I'm sure many others haven't. The Ram mafia likes to share more pics and updates compared to the other crowds.

That's what makes him so annoying besides the noodle art gold arches. He can't post without making or insinuating a derogatory remark about other peoples' choices. We all know at least one person like him.

Beautiful truck! Here's wishing you many miles of happy travels with it. I've owned four Cummins Rams. Got over it and went back to a Ford gasser. :B

Wow a member posts about his new truck and the clowns come out of the wood work!

So Deep Trax are you saying the Ford and GM/Chevy boys don't post pics of their new trucks? You funny and not in a good way.

Jim,

Thanks for your service. Again my first comment was not meant to upset you. If you find the term "mafia" insulting then I apologize but that's a pretty common term used to describe the Cummins crowd. Again its because you protect your brand and are loyal to it. That's not a bad thing. I hope you can see that I viewed your response as your attempt to start a fight. Since that apparently was not your intent then I again apologize. Have a good day and happy towing.

We're good...but I haven't owned the Ram trucks long enough to be a brand loyalist, though I AM sold on this truck...Chevy trucks, 35 years, Ram trucks, not quite 6 years yet...Never even owned a hemi or a 5.9 diesel, so I don't even qualify as part of the " Cummins crowd, though again, I'm now a Cummins guy to be sure...and love the truck.

You take care and enjoyi your camping...maybe one day we'll meet up we can and swap military Stories....:)

Wow, nothing like a Ford, Chevy, Dodge post to get things stirred up unintentionally :B.

I grew up in a Chrysler dealership, my school life among my peers was a nightmare, constantly bashing me over which vehicle is best, so I don't participate in those discussions as nobody wins. What is best is the one you personally like, if I recall, two of the US companies were so badly managed that we the people bailed them out with our tax dollars. One is now owned by the Italians, they still owe us 9.3 billion.

Love the Cummins in my 11 year old truck.

"Ram Mafia":R, nice touch with the name calling... We can't be posting too many pics...the lowly Ram is 3rd...so that must mean there aren't very many of us...ignore us, you won't have to read our post or updates or see our pics...it's easy...unless you just like to call others names....

Wow Sally chill out. My last truck was a Ram with a Cummins so relax. The term Ram mafia is not derogatory by any means. Its actually a compliment but I'm sure you're just a little sensitive for some reason and looking for a fight. You know in the Army we have a term "Lieutenant Mafia" because they run the Battalion and look after each other.

Lastly, your comment is incorrect. Ram is 2nd in heavy duty sales so maybe I brightened your day a little.

Name calling again, my name is Jim, not Sally, that was derogatory..I was a Chevy truck owner from 1975 until mid 2010 when I purchased my first Ram... At almost 66 yrs of age, the word, "mafia" has nothing but bad connotations in my opinion.

I'm "sensitive", as you put it, but not looking for a fight...I had a stroke in August, so you would be able to handle me pretty easily while calling me names...

I spent 4 yrs in the Air Force, spent time in Combat and never referred to anyone as "mafia", but we all had each other's back or you wouldn't have been around very long.

You did nothing to brighten my day, other then give you a chance to do some name calling and a little cyber bullying...so I hope your ego is feeling really good now.

Thanks for your service to our country, for that, I'm grateful to you

JIM.......not Sally, thank you...

🙂 Hi, nice truck. My opinion is that a 9,000 lb trailer is too much for a half ton, so you made the right move. Even though my half ton is rated to tow 11,200 lbs, My 6,300 lb trailer is plenty enough for me. Enjoy your new truck.

Nice rig OP. Enjoy.
I made the change three years ago from f150 to diesel also but jumped right to 350.
You will enjoy the difference like I do but with different badges!

Could it be that most of the guys buying the other 2 are a little more secure in their choices and don't seek approval from strangers on the internet?

Sorry I started such a storm by being happy I purchased a new truck. My truck is not better than yours, it's just happens to be the one I liked. It also just happens the truck is a Ram. I was hoping to share my new toy with others that share the same interest.

One reason I started this thread is my new truck has a diesel engine. No I'm not saying everyone needs a diesel, I have pulled many miles with a gasser. This is my first diesel engine. I am sure I will have questions about my truck and it's needs before my journey ends. Thanks for all the positive comments on my new purchase. I'll let you know how it pulls in a couple weeks.

My first truck upgrade was from a Class 1 4-cylinder normally aspirated diesel to another Class 1 with a large 4-cylinder gasser. Acceleration improved greatly but that previous little diesel did great towing even when compared to the 400cc larger gasser.

I went from the Class 1 truck to a Class 2B truck with V8 turbo diesel - Talk about a change in vehicles...

My last change was from the Class 2B to a Class 5 with 6-cylinder turbo diesel and this wasn't even comparable to my previous upgrade.

Enjoy that new truck which is the best choice for your use.
