I've come full circle.... Back to a travel trailer!

I've camped in a tent, pop-up, teardrop, Layton travel trailer, 2 5th wheels and 2 truck campers. I am now retired and living in Florida in a 5th wheel (for now anyway). Our plan was to use our Lance Truck Camper to see the country. But as I get older it seems to get harder and harder to get the tailgate off, line up the truck on the Lance and back under it. Barbara is finding it harder climb into the bed and make it up and if we stay anywhere for an extended period, the camper comes off the truck. It's just not as easy as it once was, so she and I had a long talk about how we want to camp in the future. We decided Travel trailer... But which one? We did look at many. We almost bought one at Camping world but as he went to start the paperwork, someone hooked up to it and took it to another dealership.. I might have been just a bit irritated over that.... So, we looked at a camper we have both really liked for a long time... We just never thought we would actually pay that much for a camper... We decided Airstream... What a nice camper.. I believe I paid a lot for the name but wow what quality too. Anyway.. Travel Trailers... We are back... See you on the road!

You cannot go wrong with an Airstream, it is a classic and will remain so long after 99% of all others have turned to dust. Enjoy it.

🙂 Hi, OMG; you bought an Airstream?????? :E Way too expensive, no slide outs, very little storage, I could buy five white boxes for less, :R Rounded body restricts interior cabinets, and feels like an airplane inside, :S Etc. Etc. Etc.

Please enjoy your new trailer anyway. :B

I can definitely see us going to a travel trailer some day. Right now we are traveling a great deal and using a Class A. It is perfect for us...right now. But in 6 years we intend to buy a second home in Fla. that will restrict our cash flow somewhat. Once we commit to two homes or two condos or one condo and one house. The motorhome will become an issue for storage and we will be taking shorter distance trips.i still want to RV, it will just be different then. Both our married kids have trailers and we will caravan with them on a few trips a year. The selection of RV vehicles for the different stages of life we go through sure is fantastic!!

Hey, if you like the Airstream and you can afford an Airstream, why not enjoy one! The people I bought my Aliner from were selling it because they'd just purchased a new AS; they let me go inside and it certainly looked great. You'll like the way it tows. Your Powerstroke will be saying, "Trailer? What trailer? I don't feel no trailer..." 😉

As an Airstream owner I know you will experience less problems with your RV. We did much the same only we started off in tents went to Airstream and foolishly traded that for a Class A. Then we went to a 5th wheel and finally back to an Airstream. We wish we had kept the first Airstream. An education is expensive and now we know. Good luck on your investment and safe travels. Tows nice doesn't it?

Welcome back. I too have tried the various options but always come back to the realization that travel trailers represent the best "Bang for the buck" in the RV world. With an electric tongue jack, they are as easy to hitch up as any other. Lots of floor plans. No extra motor and transmission to maintain. High end units like the Airstream have all the fit and finish one will find in any RV, while entry level units allow thousands of people to enjoy the camping experience at a relatively low cost.
