Howdy all....I'm seeking your learned opinions of the the above mentioned tires for full time travelling in a 06 Dodge3500 Dually pulling a 36' Dutchmen 5th wheel. We'll be trying to avoid the snow but it could happen

In My area
Big O has the Michelens...
Standard Tire has the TransForce

Prices are pretty much the same....Big O offer a hazard warranty but only in the Big O chain...Standard offers a nationwide (7000 dealer) hazard warranty.

IF possible please share your experiences regarding handling, wear characteristics and life.
Thanks
Stpehan

Looks like they were right on track with my friends AT2's he will never see 30k with them.

We live in Alaska and our family has a total of 10 vehicle's (cars and pickup's) every one run Michelin's ! I had 43 years in the trucking business and we used Michelins with excellent results.

Well I ran a set of Firestone TransForce HT on our dually Dodge. Got 45,000 out of them with no trouble. Then got the Michelin mindset when it was time to replace the Firestones based on the mileage that folks got out of the Michelin Man. My results certainly are different. Just had them rotated at Discount Tire at the shop where I bought them. Down to 2/32nds to the wear bar at 34,000 miles. 70,000 mile tread wear guarantee. Poor to say the least. The amount of towing and running empty is almost the same year to year. Mostly the same roads. And I sure paid a heck of lot less for the TransForce. Now beware that Michelin is replacing the LTX MS2 with the Premier and the wear guarantee has been downgraded to 50,000 miles. I believe Bib knows he has problem.

FT traveling towing 14K 5vr.

Ran rear tires at 80# and front tires at 55#.......at 60,000 miles but new tires not because they were worn out thread wise but because of towing and figured it was time for new set.

Yep.....put Michelin A/T2 back on.

Next set......considering Cooper cause don't FT travel towing constantly.

Friend of mine bought new a 2011 Superduty 350 shortbed 6.7 diesel OEM Michelin AT2's , my truck 2014 Ram 3500 shorted Megacab 6.7 diesel OEM Firestone Transforce Ht's

His truck just over 15K, pretty much used to just tow his 35' fifth wheel. His tires are over half worn out , if he sees 25-30K it will be great. Yet some brag about the Michelin, he will never replace them with another set of Michelins

My truck just over 14K , tires are over half worn out, will be happy to see 25K . mine have been rotated twice, and will be rotated again at 15K .Firestone will be the last tire I would buy. Most likely a Toyo.

The only way we can figure wear is comparing our tires to our spares . I have no idea how some are getting this 60K plus out of an all terrain tire is beyond me, and especially towing fifth wheels. Some report this great mileage, and some report poor mileage.

I have the Toyo AT2 on my truck. Great tire, less cost and quality is just as good as the Michelins, in my experience. Ordered them online and had them installed at the tire shop nearby. Great traction in the snow and rain. Have not used 4wd yet, haven't needed it. About 10k and wearing great.

i'd also give consideration to the new Goodyear Wrangler AT Adventure, they are very well rated and seem to last very well. I'm torn between Toyo ATII and the GY tires right now and everything I read puts the toyo in the noisier category but with good traction and long wearing tread.

For what it's worth, my truck came with the LTX AT2 Michelins and with my truck they felt extremely soft, not a good thing while towing. I changed them out for BFG AT's and those performed well but wore quickly.

For what its worth a friend of mine is running Toyo AT2's and they seem as quiet as my Transforce on my Ram .

I had Transforce on my previous truck. Traction on wet pavement was very poor.

My Chevy came with Michelin's. Got 45,000 towing miles on them and am about ready to get new ones. I will stay with Michelin. They're also on my Voltage.

I've run several sets of Michelins over the years and been very pleased. TransForce ATs came on my 2014 truck and they were down to the wear bars at 29K miles. Truck is a 2500 Ram Hemi. I really don't tow that much and drive pretty mellow.

I can't imagine all the TransForce tires perform that poorly. I think there is a special model they put on new trucks.... as in a REALLY cheap one. When shopping on Tirerack there was a label of "original equipment" and they were super cheap comparatively. I'm surprised Firestone would allow that line of tire to be associated with such poor performance. I guess my point is maybe my experience with the TransForce isn't apples to apples with what you're looking at.

Still, I'd vote for the Michelins.

Have the michelins on my fiver. They have been great so far. Between the two you mentioned, I would go for the nationwide warranty. I did buy my last set of tires from Disount tires. They have always treated me fairly. BTW I installed Yomahama Geolanders and they are probably the quietest set of tires I have owned for a long time.
