New tow rig!

Hey guys,

About a week and a half ago I traded my 15 Silverado CCSB 4x4, 5.3/3.42 LT, on a 2017 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4, CCSB.

A year and a half ago when i bought the Chevy i talked myself out of needing (wanting) a 3/4 ton truck. (I only tow heavy 8 times per year, etc).

My Chevy was a decent truck, i don't have much bad to say about it. I didn't like all the torque management that GM puts in their trucks. I didn't like the clunky downshifts, cold start engine noise GM said was normal, didn't like the lazy, laggy throttle response. But those are minor complaints. It was a good truck.

It had a lot of options i didn't want or need like the 7" touch screen, navigation, heated leather seats, etc.

The dodge is a basic HD work truck and i like that. What it came down to, is the Chevy dealer wanted around $1200 to put the trailer tow mirrors on my truck. The slip on aftermarket Tow mirrors I was using Were horrible. I had very poor rear visibility With them so they had To go. To upgrade the P series tires would have been around $900, and then I'd still have a 1/2 ton truck. I just couldn't see doing that.

I looked at all 3 trucks and crawling all around under all 3, i just liked the dodge best all around. I've always loved the big rig styling of the ram that dodge debued in 1994. I'm glad they have stuck with that.

This is my first new Mopar I have owned. I had a 1997 Ram 2500 and i liked that truck. We're looking at some larger trailers (7500 gvwr and over 29' long) and my Chevy would have pulled it, but i think I'd be right at or over my payload limit, so i figured while the Chevy had good trade in value yet, make the move now.

All 3 have pros and cons. I just liked the dodge best all around. So far I really love it. It's twice the truck my 1500 was and it really sits up. I really wanted a white truck when i got my Chevy, but couldn't find one with the other options i wanted, so i settled. The dodge is white.

So after a year and a half, I finally got what i really wanted. Wish me luck guys. I hope out it gives me good service.

Thanks again guys. That's one thing i love about campers. For the most part, they are a friendly, helpful, supportive bunch. Yall are great. Funny, sometimes at night, i like going out to my shop and just looking at it. As DW would say. She sits up there "high, wide and handsome" haha

The order one about dodge i remember from my youth was. "If it ain't MOPAR it ain't no car." Haha

Congrats! Enjoy your new ride. I looked all summer and almost pulled the trigger on a Ram 3500 CC 6.2, beautiful trucks.......but in the end brand loyalty got to me. I ended up with a 2016 Silverado 3500.

Congrats, I love mine. Also my first Mopar product and so far at about 25,000 miles, it's all good. I figured I'd buy a Super Duty going into my search but in the end it was Ram all the way and it wasn't even that close of a call. Great driving experience, towing or not.
