Nissan Titan XD Diesel Realworld Towing Review Video 7500lbs

Hello All,
I bought me a Nissan Titan XD with the Cummins Diesel. I have always been a Ford F-Series driver until now. I was so impressed with the Nissan Titan XD's power train setup. I can't wait to put my Travel trailer behind it, but I did get to pull 7500 pounds with it over the the mountains of East TN. Check out my Review. I warn you, it is a long video. The last is better. I was hardly awake in the beginning of the trip.

The Nissan A466 is a variant of the AS69RC used on the one ton Ram trucks. Itโ€™s closer to the original AS68RC but uses the same valve body and B2 clutch setup as the AS69RC. The torque converter is indeed smaller as is the bell housing.

I've never driven an XD but I would certainly bet that it's a much better tow platform than any F150 just based on curb weight. That said I don't understand why Nissan didn't differentiate it more from the half ton Titan. For about the same money as the Cummins XD you can get yourself into one of the full HD diesel trucks. They may ride marginally rougher but that's a pretty small price to pay for the heavier components and additional capability.

A RAM 1 ton may have an Aisin transmission but IIRC it is a substantially stronger transmission than the Aisin in your truck.

And you do not have a one ton rear axle. It is not a full floating axle. As a result, the rear GAWR and payload is substantially lower than a 1 or 3/4 ton truck.

The XD is a good stout 1/2 ton truck plus you will like the low end grunt of the diesel.
The XD competes well with Fords F150HDPP package.
It is not built like a 1/2 ton at all, but it rides like one. It has the same transmission as the Dodge 1 ton rated a 35000 pounds. It has a one ton axle. From a guy who just traded in a F150 with an eco boost 3.5, I can tell you there is no comparison to a F150 in the area of towing. The eco boost makes its horse power at much higher RPMs. I loved my 2017 F150, and still think highly of the Fords 3/4 & 1 Ton trucks. Having said that, Nissan is on to something with this in between truck. I have always been a Ford guy, but this Nissan is no joke. It is just a lot more truck and a better puller than the new F150 HDPP. I think the F150 HDPP will find its nitch too. I will let you know if I feel the same way after May. I will be pulling my 34 tong pull travel trailer through the mountains. It is even heavier than the load in the video.

A truck, a camper, a few toys, but most importantly a wonderful family.
