Nokian Rockproof tires?

Anyone have these tires?
I'd never heard of them until just recently. Appears they were released about 5 years ago.
The few reviews I've found look favorable. Size I'm looking for, you can't touch most "good" brands of mud tires for less than about $400/tire.
Cooper Evolution MTs were cheap last year, got a set for the old Jeep and they look/drive awesome (but mostly sit in the shop holding the rims up off the floor, lol). But those have gone up about $50/tire and now more than these Nokians.
These Nokians are literally priced about the same as the China bomb brands.
Don't need em for a couple months yet until I get the old GMC finished and new rims, but considering picking them up now, before they do the same as the new Coopers I was eyeing up.
$270/ea free shipping for a 35-12.50-20 name brand mudder seems like a deal.

These NITTO's have been great. Quiet, good traction, long tread life and they don't hold rocks. OH and they are US Made.

My Son gets over 50k on these and does a lot of towing.

FWIW, my former daily driver Chebby 2500 had Nokians of some "all weather" version on it. Can't recall the model, and they weren't the best in either mud or snow, but for for the 5 years so far, they just couldn't be beat for a dependable, tight, and look-like-they're-supposed-to tire. Don't get much mileage now on them, but I'm pretty impressed with Nokian so far.

BFGs are the default for cool classic look.
And I might go ATs as the truck surely won’t need mudders.

The GY MTRs are too aggressive for a pavement princess IMO. This truck will likely do some fashionable towing, lol, like dragging the boat around and it’ll be a backup commuter on days when looks trump gas mileage, haha.

IMHO, the BFG MT KM3 and Goodyear MT3 look great on every vehicle I've seen in person. This Rockproof may have an even better side profile than those 2, but I've never seen IRL.

For those looking for a bit less aggressive tire. There are two others with what appears to be the same casing tech. "Rotiiva" AT and AT Plus. These two fit what I would call mid level AT traction option. Definitely more than an LTX, which to me is an aggressive HT to very mild AT tread pattern.

Worth looking at all three options depending upon your traction needs.

Interesting looking tire. Has a size for my new to me 1500. BUT would prefer something a bit more mild for how I drive. One review I just read had many good things to say about it.
I guess while waiting for 350 bainbridge to seattle ferry. I'll have to see if a typical AT tread is offered in that casing.

For sure. There’s no siping, which is not an issue in the rain IMO, but not ideal. Although the large tread voids make up for a lot in rain. And not horrible in the snow at the right pressures and good tread depth.
But most of the time, if I want a great all weather tire, I’ll take a mudder like that and have the interior tread blocks siped. Which makes a GREAT snow tire.

No doubt, part of what I’m after is appearance. But I’m cheap too! Lol. Other wise I’d just pony up for some BFGs with the classic look.

Looks like next to zero siping. I can't see how those Nokian Rockproof tires would stay connected to regular roads in the rain and snow. Not for this daily driver.

On edit, I obviously missed LOTS of data on this. These might be purty purty on your project truck!

I'm a Nokian fan, have some WRG4s on my Subaru. The Rockproof looks cool and has great reviews too. I'd try them if in the market!

Yeah I’m super tempted to. Price seems unbeatable for a tire the quality of Nokain as well and they appear to be very tough tires.

I’m going as much for looks as functionality.
Truck will be mostly a pavement princess, after I get done with 100s of hours of prep and paint and drop 2 grand on fancy rims, it’s not getting bashed through the woods any time soon! but I want a classic “white letter” look and the obvious choice is just go BFGs at $400/tire. General grabber X3 red letters look awesome too at $400. Firestone MTs are one of the best tires I’ve run in recent years for quality and tire life and traction. Those are $300+ but can be had in white letter.
And the Cooper evolutions and now these Rockproofs which have red letters seem like a bargain and cool lookin.

The Bighorns that are on it look good but don’t come in 20” rims. Mickeys would look cool, but those are in the $400 range but don’t seem to have OWL tires in most models.

But I’m thinking about pulling the trigger on tires when I find a deal given the current state of .....everything...

Yes to clarify for the crowd, I’m figuring out what I want to run on this truck once I get it painted and back together.


I’m planning on running a wheel setup that looks very similar to this. 20x9 or 20x11 steelies with OEM GMC hubcaps.

I currently have those on my Ram but did not get the mileage. Still have some tread but truck is getting new shoes next week. I would say not worth the extra $$. Plenty of other brands that can get that mileage for less.
