Northern Lite truck camper or Cirrus 920

Planning on pulling the trigger on a new 2018 Northern
Lite truck camper 9-6 or Cirrus 920 and want to know if anyone out there has any problems with them. The camper place says you have to have fast guns and an under camper bed mat for the warranty to be valid but that's not a problem. Just would like to hear from anyone that has concerns with these 2 campers. My present camper in my signature got flipped in a windstorm in my driveway got wrote off.

Thank much for the input this is a real hard decision for us as they are not tried and true for longevity yet we did notice the room for the dinette was limited

When my wife and I looked at the Cirrus, we really liked a lot of stuff. I was even willing to give up a rear corner dinette for the look and finish too. But the thing that killed any chance for the Cirrus was the dinnette. While it would be okay for two and the table is large, there isn't leg room for more than two. Even for just us, the leg room is a tad on the short side. And since we know we have a grandchild that will be camping with us in the future, we must have leg room for at least 3. Just food for thought since you are still having a tough time making the decision.

We have a '17 Northern Lite 9.6. The main feature that sold one of us (and therefore both of us) on it was the bedroom layout. Very open-feeling with the windows and skylight. We did not look inside the Cirrus - its ugly rear bumper and heavier weight deterred us. And in hindsight it was a good decision - the Northern Lite pushes us to the limit of our 11,500 GVW and we are very happy with its performance. I see now from Truck Camper Mag's buyers guide that the Cirrus is nearly 1 foot narrower than the NL. So I'd recommend looking at both to see how the feel differs - it just might make the decision easier!

Thank guy's for the info, cirrus hasn't built truck campers very long but the do have a good track record with the teardrop pull behinds went today spent couple of hours at each place, tough decision, fit and finish in the cirrus is outstanding and good aerodynamics IMO, price is also about $8000 difference northern lite being the higher of the 2. The camplite they gave me $29000 on it which I figured was a good deal considering we paid $30300 in 2015, tough decision

I can't speak for Cirrus because I didn't buy one of their units, but I can say with all certainty that Northern-Lite stands behind their warranty. With respect to what the camper salesmen are telling you about fast-guns and the bed mat, ask to see it in writing. Norther-Lite didn't ask me about either one when I had a warranty claim.

I cannot comment on the Cirrus because I have not looked at them closely, just a quick walk through about a year ago.
I can comment on the Northern Lite as we purchased a 2017 8.11 SE. We love it, the clamshell design really sold me and the interior is top shelf quality. They are lighter than their counterparts in the same class. They are a true 4 season camper but so far, we have not camped at sustained temperatures below freezing and probably won't. That being said, the camper is insulated very well against summer heat also.
So far, we are very impressed and happy with the camper and I can highly recommend them.

I've looked at both and wouldn't be worried about buying either. Floor plans are a good bit different so let that make up your mind on which one to get. Take an hour and spend a fast forward day in each unit and things will get sorted out pretty quick on which unit is better. Include things like making meals, morning routine, stopping for a quick meal, etc. If you plan on having a dog with you, use a towel or pillow to simulate the dog and see how much under foot you get.

Another thing to consider is the tank sizes and make sure you have the capacities to handle how you will use the TC.

Good luck with the purchase.

I don’t necessarily agree. New guys, trying to enter the market, may try harder in this internet and forum world. Things can go south quickly these days

I have an 820. So not what you're looki g at. It does have same systems. Wife and i like fold out sink. The alde heater is very nice, quiet and heat seems to come from everywhere. Im gonna put some 2inch vents to let heat out of where heater is and water pump area. No reason to let it stay trapped in there. I also open door where reservoir is and crack under sink doors. As well as leave b-room door open so heat has chance to circulate. Opposite side of alde is 1 gallon hot water capacity. I make bucket of warm water and just use shower to wash off. Like windows and skylight. Fit anf finish is good imo.
I live in it 4 nights/wk as i live in a different city than i work in.
