propane tank valve stuck

Anyone have success in opening a stuck valve on a propane tank? I recently discovered the valve has never been opened. It's too late for warranty. Now i need to replace or get it fixed. Thanks!

Valve has the words open and close with arrows - it is righty tighty lefty loosey - a phrase I sadly repeat in my head!

Talking about the valve, not connections. Sitting at my computer I can't see from here whether or not they are attempting to turn the valve handle the correct way.

Get some leverage on the handle. Should be able to get a pipe wrench on it, or something like that. Just be careful and apply torque slowly until it comes free. Don't yank on it and break the handle. Someone just got it to tight is all, with the right leverage it will come loose.

I recently had one stuck in open position. I removed the handle and put a wrench to the valve stem.

If you open the valve too quickly, gas will not flow. Wait 30 minutes after connecting the tank and then s-l-o-w-l-y open the valve.
Also, you cannot check for gas flow by opening a tank that isn't connected to anything. It will not flow unless it's connected.

I can just lift my full propane tank. Empty it's no problem.

Yep that's what my husband said when I asked. Full tank not used in 3 years. I will take it to a propane company and not exchange it.

Propane cylinder has never been used in over 3 yrs?

Are you sure valve is closed and not fully open?

Take cylinder to a bulk/retail propane store (not a u-haul, service station, place that refills etc.) but a place like Ferrel Gas, AmeriGas, Suburban Gas, etc.

They do propane, they know propane, they will correct issue

A towel and some plumbers vice grips? I'm assuming it a full tank?

You could always take it in for an exchange!
