Ram 2500 steel behind bumper

I was crawling around under the front bumper of my Ram and noticed two large sections of heavy steel tubing, 4 in square by 10 in long welded to the front of the frame rails, pointed towards the ground. Maybe 6 inches back from the bumper.

Any idea what these are for?

I will try to get a picture next time it's above freezing.

Lol! I just bought a 2500 Ram 4x4 a few days ago and she does really sit up. I'll have to check that out

Brulaz nailed it. They're called compability brackets I guess. Keeping you from driving over the compact cars when they get in the way 🙂

Heard elsewhere that it might be something to stop the truck riding up on a smaller car in a collision.

IIRC the 4x2s don't need it?
