Had ammonia sensor replaced and CEL came back on after 50 miles. Drove around 1,000 miles before I could get to where I had to go. Found a dealer in Elkhart Ind. and had a new Diesel Catalytic Converter put on. It was under warranty. The pundits like to scare you oh you will go limp in 100 miles etc. Never happened to me. Yes I have had the other recalls. Most were just a re flash. Had most of them done when I went in for my 4 free oil changes. I have 49,000 miles on mine an still going strong. Being a full timer who travels about every 2 weeks I have to find a dealer that will do the work. I never had an issue and this is my 3rd Ram oil burner. They all have issues so just get then repaired when needed. How many Rams have gone limp before this issue was resolved?

That's right all brands of trucks have issues/recalls. My truck had flashes done while having oil changed. If I need to address this recall for emissions then I will have them fix it and enjoy driving, towing, and hauling with my Laramie longhorn Cummins powered Truck!!

Yep your right, I don't even own the truck in question but my parents do. I am very familiar with engines both gas and diesel, by no means a novice. No doubt if you owned a truck with issues, then I can see why you may have personal feelings about it. Just keeping things in perspective, I have owned may vehicles and felt the same way. I just don't see the need to talk trash about someone's truck or choice. Whatever vehicle you choose its up to you, your check book and likes, needs, wants. I like reading what is posted for information, but somehow along the way several good threads gets shut down due to personal wars going on. Pretty sad. We are all here to learn, me included, 43 and have owned over 50 vehicles at this point. Most were just cheap cause I could not afford much. Raced several, wrecked a few and enjoyed for the most part all of them. I'm glad you guys bring issues to light, a wish auto manufacturers would read some of these threads and learn from what's going on. I'm sure that the emissions are creating headaches with some of u. I know my parents Ram has had a few.. Even breaking down while pulling their 5th wheel across the US. It was an regen issue and was resolved by dodge. I seem to recall DPF filter to be exact. Anyway not stirring the pot here guys, love the site. Enjoy camping, it's one of the nicest experiences that we can enjoy and our kids as well. Happy late Thanksgiving I got back on shift tomorrow and of course it will be busy. Snowbirds back in Florida now so if any of you are on or plan to be on I75 prepare for slow downs and accidents.

Lets hope not, that's one reason I step away from certain post. One thing that I have known from 43 years is... anything man made will have issues, some worse then others but man made..... I still think Ram builds a good truck, despite liking GMC/Chevy. Cummins is a great engine, and despite peoples personal feelings all trucks have issues time to time. Sometimes we all need to just sit back and thank God that we can live this good and camp.

Pot stirrin, I guess if thats what you call it, still a fact with these new Cummins, and Jimnlin you own how many 2013-15 Cummins powered Rams ??? If so you must not have had a DEF issue yet ???

Personal feelings,is that what it is when I have had two DEF issues, and the DEF was checked ,and okay.:h Personal feelings is that what it is, with yet another recall coming on my 2014 3500 Ram Cummins with 25K on it. This will make the 7th recall. I hardly call this personal feelings, shouldn't we just call it the facts on the emission systems on these trucks, it a long ways away from my personal feelings.

No doubt the cummins is a great engine, no question, but there are other factors involved. That great engine will not do you a lot of good when your emission system goes bad. It always seems post like yours usually comes from someone that has not had an issue or for that matter does not even own the truck in question

I guess I could be like the Ram Mafia members on here, and admit nothing bad about the Ram

I'm curious if thsee lawsuits won't drive a wedge between the 2 companies. There have been rumors for years, but now FCA has an in house 6.7l diesel. Who knows...

I had the DEF issue rear its head on me. I cleared the CEL and kept on driving. Its been several months and several thousand miles, many towing, and not a single problem. I'm not entirely certain what is causing the CEL to come on, but nothing bad has happened from simply clearing it and driving the truck like normal.

Basically all Rams from 2007-2015 with the Cummins will be under investigation for emissions problems. This one could get ugly.
