Roadmaster or Hellwig Rear Swaybar

I have a 2015 GMC Sierra 3500 HD dually with a set of Timbrens and I am thinking about a rear sway bar. Both Roadmaster and Hellwig make rear bars for my truck but they mount differently. The Roadmaster end links mounts towards the rear where as the Hellwig end links mounts facing the front of the truck. Is the way they attach to the frame better or worse for the frame and the handling. Lastly the GM boxed frame is supposed to be very rigid is a rear sway bar necessary? Thanks.

I cannot comment on fit for your application. However, I have been very happy with Hellwig. Put it on a decade ago, and had the bushings wear out on it last year. Contacted Hellwig to *buy* new ones, and they refused. They insisted on shipping me new ones for free, and an updated design even.

I strongly recommend Hellwig.

I installed a Roadmaster on the rear and Hellwig on the front. The difference between stock and 1 1/2" aftermarket is night and day. No more white knuckle rides for us.

I got the Big Wig because there was no Roadmaster for my truck. Typical after market generic instruction sheet. Some was wrong, like remove my brake harness and re-install on their adapter. There was no need because my harness was nowhere near where they said. Then add spacers to the spare tire heat shield, no need for that either. BUT what was needed was to spend another $80 at the muffler shop to cut, reposition, and re-weld my tailpipe because it was like 1/64" from the sway bar link. I hope it works.

Good morning Sir, please pass me your license and registration.

I clocked you at close to 40,000# truck and trailer, Sir. There is a rule about abusing nice Ford trucks. Sorry, I did not realize you had "cheaters" on your truck. I still have to issue you paper. Please sign here.

Have a good day.

Careful Mr Sidecar. The WP are always watching.

I have Hellwig sway bar and Firestone air bags on my 2016 F-350. I carry a 3600# TC. 90% of sway is gone

I spent over $750 at Camping World in Council Bluffs on a Roadmaster about a year after getting my TC. It's a really thick heavy duty bar, but unfortunately it did not do a thing to reduce sway on my GMC 2500. For me, a complete waste of money. As posted elsewhere, I had installed Torklift Lower Stable Loads this morning. I'm hoping they do the job.

What really reduced the sway for me was the Firestone air bags. I call them 'cheater bags' because when I haul my tandem axle gooseneck around, I'm always seriously overloaded. It's rated for 14 on the deck and I usually put 20 on the deck, sometimes more.

With the trailer weight, thats 34,000 on the hitch ball. With 50 psi in the bags, my overload leaf never touches the stop.

I decided on the Roadmaster, they are manufacturing it as I type. They are expensive, compared to the Hellwig, but I think I like the way it mounts compared to Hellwig.
Zulu, I had a 2006 Northstar Arrow 8.5 on my 2005 Silverado 3500, 9900 GVW, I used a set of Timbrens and the truck/camper combo was solid, no sway.

I am about to bite the bullet on the Hellwig Bigwigs myself.
I'm not a very good mechanic but I think I can do it.
I have all the tools necessary and know how to use them.
I'm pretty handy but would sure like to see a video of an installation.
I have a 2015 Chevy 2500 HD, long bed, SRW, 4X4.
I talked to a rep and they sent me to a Dodge install video.

Does anyone know of a Chevy install video?
Has anyone done the install on a Chevy?

I easily installed my Torklift tie downs to my frame myself.

I haul a Northstar 8.5 Arrow and I'm tired of the pucker factor on any incline.

I got the Roadmaster rear a few years ago. It is very well built and holding up well. It is much stouter than my stock one. Not sure, but at the time it was bigger (thicker) than the hellwig. It also is made locally to where i live and am a buy local guy. Both seem good, not sure about your chebby, works awesome on my F.O.R.D. Roadmaster is a very quality unit for sure.

My truck came with front and rear bars factory. They are large diameter and the links are large as well, but I can pop them if I twist the axles enough.
