Shower leak?

We are really new to this whole camper/hybrid thing, so please forgive the ignorance of my questions.

After using the shower, we noticed a large puddle of water on the floor outside the wall where the shower is. (In our Starcraft TravelStar, this is right in front of the fridge/closet.) We aren't sure what could be causing this, although it's obviously related to the showering. Suggestions on where to start troubleshooting?

I had a small puddling problem with my 18SB when I couldn't get it perfectly level due to our spot.

Basically the water would run down the shower wall, then along the wall and pan and out onto the floor. From there it would travel wherever gravity would take it. I honestly thought at first the inlet on the back of the toilet was leaking.

Once I figured out what was happening, I used some tub/tile caulking to create small dams on the bottom between the wall and basin that would deflect any runoff back into the shower.

I have not had any issues since as long as the person is very careful to make sure the curtain is tightly closed all the way around. Any puddles now are the result of a shower curtain not closed all the way.

If the bathroom floor doesn't get wet then check the control.

So, did you open up that wall yet to see the pipes and faucet?

Just to be clear, I'm not talking about the bathroom floor. Where the puddle appears is on the floor in front of the refrigerator.

I had a shower leak it would drain all over the floor and into the basement but I could find the leak anywhere. I figured a crack in the drain pan but upon further review and the help from my wife (she left the water turned on in the shower all night. I found the leak.. It was coming from the faucet in the shower. It was leaking out from behind the faucet facade, down the wall and onto the floor and basement. It was very hard to find and I never would have if it not been for my wife..

On our 06 Starcraft Travelstar 18sb you ended up with a puddle on the floor from the shower as the curtain doesn't contain all the spray. I caulked all around the bathroom floor, the toilet, and the bottom of the control side shower wall where it met tub basin. This kept the over spray from doing any damage, I then use the towel to clean it up or leave one on the floor to collect it while it happens. For me the shower stall is just too small to avoid the issue.

The 19ck looks a bit different but I'd do the same thing. Seal it up anywhere the water can get under or in the walls. Do NOT seal all around the tub surround, it has to be able to expand/contract, at least that was my impression.

I also had the shower control crack even though I had it full of the pink antifreeze, pretty easy fix.

The plumbing may be cracked inside the wall. If the faucet wasn't winterized properly, they will crack. Is there access behind the faucet to see if it may be leaking there?

a friend of mine, had the same exact hybrid.
i'll ask him if they had a similar problem and if they did, what fixed it.

Okay, so I guess it didn't occur to me that it could be runoff and show up outside the bathroom completely, but I guess if it's running down the side and under the door, it might? I will definitely have the hubby watch next time to see where the water comes from. And maybe lay down paper towels ahead of time to see what gets wet first.

Welcome aboard. Not ignorant questions at all and many in here are happy to share.

We have to lay a wash cloth on the edge of our tub to keep water from running out and off of the edge of the tub. Watch it closely next time someone showers and see if it's splash or running off the edge vs an actual plumbing leak that runs from under the tub/shower base. The curtain may not be able to close far enough to stop this. Ours has some little suction cups on the curtain but they dont work.

It's unlikely to run up past the end as it should have a flange. May be leaking at the drain connection

It's a 2005 Starcraft TravelStar 19CK Expandable.

The water is showing up on the floor on the other side of the wall from the shower. Not in the bathroom, where I would expect it if it were simply splashing out around the shower curtain. I suspect a leak or perhaps maybe needing some caulk along the seam where the wall meets the "tub".

Have someone stand outside and watch for where the water is coming from. Remember no peeking inside.

it would help if you posted which model you have, because some have corner showers, some don't, some have tubs, some don't.
if you would post it in your sig line, then it would always be there.

most of the time, it's from water getting around and under the shower curtain.
many add splash guards on the sides. they are easily available at places like HD and Lowes.
