That's a lot of F250s to Recall.

52,000 Ford F250s Recalled.

Or Or here.

Ford is recalling 52,000 F-250 pick-up trucks over a fault which can cause the vehicle to roll while the automatic transmission lever is in park position.
In a statement, the company advised users of the 2017 vehicles, sold in the US and Canada, to use the hand brake when shifting the car into park mode.
It said it was not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with the issue.
It is the Michigan-based automaker's third recall in a week.

The important thing is that, if this recall involves your truck, get it fixed ASAP. This type of problem in other vehicles has taken lives. Hopefully it won't with this one.

More evidence that there are no perfect vehicles, of ANY brand. Buy what you like, and keep up with the recalls. If it's not your turn this time, it may be next time.

Parking Brake........
Everyone should USE it every time before exiting vehicle of any kind.

Exactly. I've done this for about the past 45 years. Why...why...would anyone not use their parking brake in these situations !

Because many are useless. The parking brake on my Magnum wouldn't hold on even a gentle grade, from day one, no matter how it was adjusted.

This is something I hate. Unfortunately, I see it all the time. People are too busy texting to worry about setting the brake.

I have successfully taught my kids to do the right thing and set the brake before shifting into park. Now all I need to do is somehow try to convince my wife to set the brake. I think negotiating peace in the Middle East would be easier.

No kidding. Threads like this are nothing more than trolling, in my opinion. Those that own trucks affected by this will received notifications, therefore there is no "public service" in posting this on a forum that is known for its brand bashing/loyalty.

Spring is almost here, hopefully these types of threads wind down for the next 6 months. 17 days until our next trip!

We went to the Vancouver Auto Show last week and I left thinking this problem is going to get bigger. Manufacturers are increasingly going to fly by wire shifters and I was surprised at how many have gone to a park button in their new vehicles. Of course, every manufacturer has a different idea of where to put it, instead of just putting the shift lever all the way forward or to the left as all automatics have been since they were invented.

Look Here at YTD and monthly sales, 52,000 is about 20 days worth of Ford truck sales.

The issue is F250s with 6.2L, a small portion of total sales. Anyway I really don't the get all this noise around such a simple issue and don't really care.

The second link indicates it was all production from October 2015 till March 2017 inclusive, of the F250 6.2L. Hardly one month for that specific truck, and those dates include a majority of the 2016 production I'd guess so....

I must say, as someone with no 'monkey in this circus', there sure is a lot of brand loyalty out there it seems from this thread.

Glad I bought the 2016.

As for recalls, tons of auto manufacturers had had recalls, even Honda and Toyota.

53k trucks is maybe one month of production for an automaker the size of Ford.

At least they found the problem pretty fast, not like the Honda airbag recall for various models produced between 2004-2007, that they only started in 2015ish.

Took years for people to figure out that metal shards were being produced by deploying airbags.

Got rid of one Honda because of that fiasco. No manufacturer is immune to that sort of thing.

At least they are recalling them instead of pretending it doesn't happen. I think the ignition with GM and Volkswagen ordeal was a wake up call for the auto industry.

Lots of negative publicity and large fines.

NOT AGAIN. Ford has had trouble in the past with their trucks slipping from Park to reverse. A Washington State Highway patrol officer was killed in Sequim, Wa years ago when a fire truck rolled back over him.

Do you care to share some info that makes this relevant to the current recall? Fire trucks in 1978 typically didn't have a 'park' position since they were nearly all manual transmissions, and even today's automatics in HD trucks don't have a 'park' position. I'm pretty sure it was that incident that led to a state law requiring use of wheel chocks on fire apparatus. Or was it a 2017 F250 that killed the trooper serving as a volunteer firefighter in 1978?

Back in '63 I was at a Midwest lake. I was a kid. A couple in their 20's launched a boat, using about a year old new car...4 door hardtop. The boat launch was at an angle...the driver got out to crank the boat off the trailer...and for some reason the whole combination went backward into the lake.

They used an International pickup to yank it all out of the lake...water cascaded out when they opened all 4 doors. The windows had been down.

Always check your parking brake and if your vehicle is solidly in park.

I started using my parking brake in high school when my '69 Comet GT backed out of it's spot and into the side of a Sarasota County Sheriff's cruiser. They called me out of math class. Never had a problem since. I hate to see people park on a steep inline, let the vehicle roll back onto the parking pawl in the transmission, then see them yank the shift lever to reverse or drive with a loud bang as the pawl releases the vehicle. DW was the worst offender. Now she "simply" sets the parking brake before putting it in Park.
