I replaced my GM hitch with a Reese 12k. GM had almost rusted thru.

So every time you pull into an uneven gas station, food stop, etc, you disengage the WDH? It must take you months to get somewhere. That doesn't appear to be that steep to me. Almost every trip we encounter some sort of uneven entrance exit.

:B Im always the last one to arrive.

IF I had to..., I think I would remove the bars . But I would not put them back on until I gassed up again. I have a lot more TV than I need, the WD bars do not make a difference in my ride. I really don't know why I put them on in the first place.
I towed my 4 place snowmobile trailer thousands of miles and didn't use WD bars either. I did need them on my 37' , 31' and 30' TT's but the TT I have now, has no slide and aluminum skin.

Make sure the collar under the coupler is engaged, every time. Don't ask me how I know this.

X2 Egad. I would be pissed. What a horrible designed TT and bad welding job for that to happen.

To begin with on a 45 degree angle of 'that' steep driveway he shouldn't have been taking it straight on. I and most RV'ers would not have even gone in a station with that steep of a driveway.

I think the driveway has a lot to do with it putting more stress on the ball then rated and popping it.

Doesn't look that steep to me. But, maybe I am not seeing it correctly.

Possible hitch failure? Those were the year models that had some OEM hitch issues. There's been some documented on here over the years.
Even with the pin unlatched, the tongue coming off the ball would be odd, especially with a WDH hitch in place. The guys at my dealer move trailers around with a forklift that has a ball on it, they never get off the lift.

That would be a reason to check your hook up and make sure the padlock is on..
It would be a bad (and embarrassing) position to be in..
