Not sure if it's the right forum; Yesterday when I was in line to take a dump, ahead of me was a Ford truck (F150 I would think) 2009 or newer with a new looking trailer. I noticed when they opened the truck door the trailer marker lights and tail lights came on. At first I wasn't sure but after they opened the doors a couple times it definitely seemed to be tied with the interior lights. Has anyone ever seen this before? I thought about pointing it out but with the racket going on with the kids in the back seat I didn't bother.
It is a Ford thing (the parking lights illuminate when a door is opened). The mine site I'm working at is littered with late-model fords and they all do it.

OK. Kinda like that annoying hazard flasher thing when my van's (and other vehicles too)side door is opened. Or like GM's every possible exterior light including the backup markers on when you lock the door. I've actually waited to see if cars were about to move when I realized the driver is walking away.
The Ford vans that the hotel shuttles use to bring us to the railyard do that.

When I open the door to my Ford, the outside clearance lights on the truck come on. This also causes the clearance lights on the FW to come on too.
