This is the worst review that I have seen so far on the Titan diesel. I hope that it is an isolated case:

So getting back on track.......lol...does anybody here on this forum actually own a diesel Titan? I heard from one owner already but anybody else? If so chime in and let us know if your having any of these problems.

I'm a little reluctant to raise my hand here, haha. I have owned one since April. As of today I have 4700 miles on it, but, 2000 of those miles are towing my travel trailer that weighs approx 7200 lbs.
So far the truck has been flawless, but again, I barely have 5000 miles. No dead pedal and no transmission harshness like others have reported.
I had a 2012 half ton Titan before this and towing my trailer is night and day. The older truck had decent power but the stability of this heavier truck is great. So far I am pleased with the truck.

Thanks for your response in answering my question. Maybe its just a fluke that some of these trucks have issues. I know how that is, I have an 07 Camry with every quirk that the 07 first production run came with...So I know it takes a year or so for the quirks to be worked out. I generally will never purchase first production run model years, but got the Camry years ago used and in perfect one owner shape.
A truck, a camper, a few toys, but most importantly a wonderful family.

I didn't ask you what was your favorite nor do I see how it pertains to the Titan XD topic.

You asked me "And what's my favorite brand?" when I was talking about every engine even your favorite has issues. Did you not? I am answering your question with a question.

So which of the current models do you favor the most, Ram CTD, GM Duramax, or Ford Powerstroke?

I don't believe Toyota met their original production targets. The factory they built in San Antonio was for the Tundra production only as far as I know. When sales dropped Toyota retooled a portion of that factory to produce a car to help absorb operations costs. In addition they improved their truck assembly line to make it more efficient during their production shut down due to low demand. You know Toyota and Lean Mfg both go together.

I wasn't dodging your question.... Let me explain in more comprehensive detail. My truck is 5 years old with 120k miles. It's required one repair for a bad Nox sensor at around 110k miles. When it comes time to purchase a new truck my current trucks reliability will carry some weight in my decision and so far it's been stellar.

In order to move this discussion on to the Titan XD discussion I'm content with my current truck and don't plan on purchasing a new truck.

I am getting to the bottom of the question you asked me regarding what is your favorite. So which of the current models do you favor the most, Ram CTD, GM Duramax, or Ford Powerstroke?

Former Tundra owner here.

Toyota build a 3/4 ton? Why? The big sales numbers are in the 1/2 ton class. Makes no sense to invest 100's of millions to compete in the 3/4 ton class against the big 3 that are serving that segment nicely and have a big, loyal following. In summary, the numbers just aren't there and Toyota has recognized this for many years.

I'm sure you are right, but I would buy one in a heartbeat if they made one. I loved my Tundra, the 5.7 and transmission were fantastic and provided plenty of power. The brakes always felt firm. Factory E rated tires provided plenty of stability.

Another 1000 lbs of payload and a gas tank that holds 10 or 15 more gallons of gas would have been perfect for me. But, alas... such a beast doesn't exist.

Yeah, loved mine too. But realistically, how much market share could Toyota expect to grab? 10% ?? Less?? Would it be worth the investment? I doubt it.

First thing Toyota would face is all the "Toy Truck" comments like they did with the Tundra. Maybe after 5 years of service and people seeing they hold up, people might start buying them.

All the offerings from the Big 3 are really quite good so I don't see room for a 4th player.

I think it is pretty easy to argue that Toyota really isn't competitive even in the 1500 series market. They can't have much more than 10% marketshare there.

My point exactly; so why would they venture in to the 3/4 ton market? My feeling about Toyota in the 1/2 ton market is they probably hit their target numbers, make a nice profit, but know full well they will never sell anywhere near what the Big 3 sell.

There's a lot of brand loyalty in the truck market segment that's very hard to crack.
