TV Antenna

I made the mistake I knew was going to happen sooner or later, left the antenna up and pretty much destroyed the tubes. It is a Winegard but I can't find the model # of the antenna. Does anyone know where it is or if the tubes are the same on all Winegard's? I have got to come up with a way to make sure I remember to take it down in the future.

If you have a check list for a trailer I'd keep at least 3 copies. One posted at each door (inside) and one on the steering wheel or driver's seat of the tow vehicle. In my MH I need only one on the driver's seat. You can do the smart phone thing too- you just have to have it with you, make sure the app works and the phone doesn't crash.

Checklists are all very well and good...when you're leaving a campsite. My DH got our little TT out of storage last week in preparation for our first trip of the season. He was so happy to be in it, he sat inside the trailer drinking beer and watching TV in our driveway. Mind you, the trailer TV is 20 inches, and we have a big screen in the house, but whatever.

We have a maple tree with branches that hang low over the driveway. When we were leaving the next day, I was behind the trailer watching him back up, when suddenly CRRAAACK!. Antenna, meet maple tree. Bent but not broken...it worked when we set up the campsite, we'll see how it manages the season.

Indeed, sometimes stuff just happens!

carl2591, I took 4 screen shots of the app and combined these into one photo. If anyone has any additional items that I should add then let me know.

Hang your TV keys on the crank for the antennae.

Most people have "smart" phones nowdays. I use a list maker free app called Simple Notepad on my Android (Samsung) phone. There are list maker apps also available for iPhones. This is by far the simplest way to make sure you don't forget anything before you drive off. You can add items, sort, delete, check and uncheck. Here is a sample of what mine looks like.

Hey...happens to the best of us. If it wasn't for someone pointing at the roof at a TT in Hershey PA I would be singing the blues.
I emailed Winegard last week about a problem....I'm thinking they can help. (waited forever on the phone - email seems to be quicker).

I caught mine up at the CG dump station before we hit the road. Some times stuff just happens.

I like the tag and truck key ideas.

I called Camping World today to order the tubes I need. The lady said the only way I could get them was to buy the entire antenna. Called another RV center close by and was told they have 4 in stock. I know where my money will go from this point on.

I always do a final walk around making sure all doors are closed and latched, water, electric unhooked, antenna down, chocks pulled, chairs inside, etc. After a while it gets to be second nature.

I have a note on the dash control screen that says: "ANTENNA IS UP" and has saves me many times...I can't see the screen until I remove the note...

I have taken it apart now and all I need is the tubes. If the ones I have found onlne are correct they are about $15. Very simple fix and pretty cheap. That is not generally the case with my screw ups.
