uConnect 5.0 bluetooth?

I've upgraded in vehicles and downgraded in radios. Last truck had the uConnect 8.4AN, new truck has the uConnect 5.0.

I'm wondering if anyone's found a way to stop the radio from turning on XM every time I start the engine?

I'd like it to either default to bluetooth, or just stay off.

My 8.4AN did this no problem, but the 5.0 doesn't seem to offer that ability. Maybe's that's Fiats way of punishing me for not buying the more expensive radio?

Not sure about the 5.0 but the 8.4 the volume for the radio, phone and GPS are controlled independent of each other. So turning down or muting the volume on the radio, Sat or media side will not affect the other two. Again I know this is how the 8.4 U-Connect works and would think it should be the same across all of the U radios.

From what I read in the 5.0 U-Connect owners manual the radio should come back to the last setting, FM, Sat, USB or off if that was where it was when the truck was turned off. The same holds for the volume if it was all the way down that is where it should be when the truck is started up next.

That's what mine does.
Except I can't find an OFF setting, just mute.
And mute always unmutes when turned off/on.

There's probably a reason why it can't be turned off. It's much more than just a radio. If it could be turned off, I would bet people would complain about not receiving their phone calls in the truck and why their backup camera display didn't work. If you don't want sound turn the volume all the way down and everything else will still work as it should. I don't see the problem.

If it is not doing this and your dealer is saying it is working correctly you can call U-Connect direct and talk with someone there.

The phone number is 1-877-855-8400 they are open 24 hours a day.

I wonder if it's because my radio is shut off when the truck is off? The radio in my 2013 was always on, even when it looked off... part of the emergency assist feature maybe? It would connect to my cell phone as soon as I got close to the truck even when it's off. The new radio doesn't connect until about 60 seconds after I turn the key on. New truck doesn't have any panic or assist buttons.

You can adjust the start up volume in your settings minus to where the volume is all the way down when you start the truck.

Mine defaults to whatever I had it on before I shut it off, which is generally the radio. It's always been that way so I can't help you on changing the setting to achieve that.
