OK I know from the get go this is opening a can of worms but I still have to ask...
Since Ford has so many fleet customers, is this the reason they can claim to be number one in truck sales?

Ask that question next year when Nissan and Toyota have a Cummins in their pickup trucks... ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

My personal opinion only, but those cummins powered Toyota and Nissan will make it a them, then the rest race in the 1500 line.

I believe you meant to say....If it's not a six in a row Cummins is it still considered a truck?:):S

Now the question is will a dozen Fiestas outlive one CL65? What about cost of ownership?

If you are talking about cost(selling price), maybe you need to do more research on the cost of Mercedes and those of Ford, FCA, GM. I think that you will find them in line with these. If you had used Bentley, Aston Martin, or Ferrari, it might have been clear.

Your intent was not clear without factual references.

Thanks for your post... I now know the lowest common denominator to clarify my comments...

Mercedes CL65 - $221,000 MSRP
Ford Fiesta - $18,000 MSRP

Do you see the difference there? Its about 203,000 factual references difference.

I don't have that much mileage on mine (something about 110K), but 75% of it has been at 19K lbs GCW with three round trips over The Great Divide.

I am now shopping larger trucks and GM does not have an offering, so it is between Ram and Ford. Ram again is less expensive than the Ford and soon enough you will find out which one I value more based on my wants (I cannot say needs since this a recreational toy and not for business).

For those of you that had bad luck with some of the Ford diesels, I feel for sorry for you as mine keeps defying your posts. Maybe my truck is as stubborn as me and refuses to be put in class or category. Meanwhile, I'm watching the clock at work waiting to go camping...

My fleet F350 that I drive or should I say drove gave it up 2 days ago at 176,000 miles. Dropped a valve and the engine is destroyed. Another 6.0 bites the dust..........

As someone previously mentioned, they all include fleet sales in their numbers, not just Ford.

No 450,550,650 or 750's

What is the source of this? I did not know that Ford actually shared the details of their sales at this level.

sooooooooooooo---

in the 1 ton category
86,974 - Ford
26,194 - total of the twins combined
48,734 - Ram

and 3/4 ton -
176,843 - Ford
113,881 - total of the twins combined
82.886 - ram

To me this just tells me that Ford is better at marketing and knowing what the customer wants.. Is a better truck..?? It depends on the owner.. BUT the original poster asked about who is actually #1 in SALES... ( Ford according to statistics ) not number one in customer satisfaction...that's all hear say

Ford has the best marketing, I will give them that hands down. I can also cite other marketing campaigns that resulted in the obvious lesser choice getting selected by the masses that are not able to wade through the marketing hype. It seems that even when someone has experienced the 6.0 PSD and it cost them thousands that they still think it was the best truck ever made, when a rational person might consider that it is not useable when it is in the shop all the time getting repaired... just part of life in the modern times.
