Just bought my very first camper and super stoked. But very clueless. I give my self a B- on the man scale, so I should be ok after a few trips.

Does whites go to negative and black goes to positive?

Your batteries show nothing connected in the picture. You should have the following:
- Seperate wire battery to battery negative (usually white)
- Seperate wire batter to battery positive (usually black)
- Negative from one battery to frame of trailer (usually white)
- Positive from other batter to converter/DC distribution (usually black or red and auto reset circuit breaker a few inches from battery)

From looking at your pic it appears that the black & white cables are used for jumpers between the two batteries.....so you can connect them white to negative (-) and black to positive (+) terminals on batteries

Then the cable on far right (kinda grey in pic) probably goes to trailer frame for ground
The cable on far left (red) probably goes to trailer for dc power

Just trace out which is ground cable.

Usually yes. But you should follow the white wire and make sure it connects to the frame.
Assuming can be very expensive!

Battery setup

Those are 12 volt batteries. Hook the batteries together positive to positive and negative to negative. Then trailer positve to one battery and trailer negative to the other battery
