We spotted this vintage combo down in Pismo Beach a couple of weeks ago. I think it was an International Travelall and an Airstream.

My friends had several old IH trucks back in the day. As reliable as the sun coming up. But, you could never keep the door shut. I remember one time I was riding with a friend in the passenger seat of his 64 IH pickup. We were setting at a stop light. As the light turned green he took a left turn. As I leaned on the door it came open and I almost fell out in the middle of the highway. Thankfully he reached over and grabbed my shirt to keep me in the truck. I always made sure after that to throw my shoulder against the door after getting in his truck to make sure it was closed. I still do it after getting into his truck to this day and we both have a laugh.

How do you suppose that they get the Airstream to shine like that? I see lots of airstreams on the road, some nearly new, but rarely does one shine like that.

Here is how:

Airstream Refinishing

I thought about doing this to the '68 Airstream I used to own.

I am not a trailer guy but if I had to have one it would be an Airstream.. I missed out on one two weeks ago. Sat in someones yard for years, near me. It was given away. The people didn't know what they had. I found out couple of weeks later. Would have been my next project.

I think the newer ones of that size in the pic have tandem axles. the older ones were single axles....otherwise, yes, they all look alike!

I always say this, but my dream setup would be a late 60`s-mid 70`s station wagon and an Airstream!

I'm no expert on these things, but it does look like a '64 Tradewind 24'.

that reminds me, a year or two ago, a specialty Bambi was stolen that was custom made by/for an airstream executive that was very unique in its window placements, etc. just wondering if that ever turned up.

🙂 Hi, they have to be stripped and buffed out; Way more work than I would ever do or consider, but they really look great. Also the earlier Airstreams had Alclad aluminum in which the outer layer is pure aluminum and polishes out nice. Newer Airstreams like mine can be polished, but will never shine like the older ones.
