What is your SRW truck payload?

Thinking about buying a new used truck between 2004 and 2009. I have a 2001 Dodge ram 2500 with about 3000lb of payload and would like to get a truck with more without getting a dually. I have always liked my Dodge trucks but they just don't seem to have enough payload in a srw. I am looking for a 4wd four door truck with a 8ft bed not sure if I want gas or diesel. So my question is what do you have and what is your GVWR and payload? SRW only please. Thanks!

If you want high payload, you don't want diesel. Those engines weigh more.

My 2015 Silverado 3500 has a payload of 3933.

Ford adjusts the GVWR to keep the payload rating roughly equal between all engines.

While I have never weighed it, my camper is somewhere north of 3K lbs based on a similar (but slightly less equipped) camper that was weighed at 3100lbs IIRC. My 2007 F350/SRW/SuperCab/Lariat/4X4/diesel carries mine on it's stock suspension and still sits slightly tail high when fully loaded for a trip. Even adding the tongue weight (non-weight distributing) of a 22' TT didn't squat me past level.

I do know the 08 and up Ford's lost some load capacity as their GVWR stayed the same while the trucks got heavier.

If you are not in a hurry, I'd might wait a few months on a new purchase. Due to the oilfield shutdowns, there is a good chance a lot of 1 ton trucks hitting the used market next year

The truck camper info sheet that came with my '06 F350 6.0 Diesel (with camper pkg dealer equipped) gives a cargo capacity of about 2900 lbs. This is a King Ranch super crew and a really heavy truck. Wish it would hold more without resorting to Timbrens, bags or the like.

Can't afford a new one by any stretch!

My '03 2500 Dodge/Cummins quad cab has a actual 3140 lb payload based on a 6000 RAWR with LT265/70-16 E tires.

This particular trucks front axle doesn't carry any part of my trailers bumper hitch or GN/5th wheel hitch weight as my pin is zero over the trucks rear axle.

Looking for payload based on GVWR not axle ratings but thanks for your info.

The year model '03 truck doesn't have a GVWR based payload placard as do many trucks prior to '05/'06 era when the tire placard payload became mandatory.

Also Ford markets F350 SRW with a 11500 GVWR and the same exact truck with a 10000 GVWR so GVWR based payloads will be different if your using a GVWR based payload.

And some of the new trucks with higher GVWRs payloads have overloaded the trucks RAWR numbers. One member bragged his '15 2500 Ram had a 3640 lb payload sticker. The truck will not carry 3460 lbs in the bed without overloading its RAWR.

Just points to ponder when using GVWR based payload numbers from many different trucks/owners.

My 2004 Ram CTD 4x4 SRW Manual weighed 7600 pounds with a GVWR of 9900 meaning it only had 2,300# capacity.

My 2015 Ram 6.4 gasser SRW 4x4 Auto weighs 7094 before tie downs and bed liner with tailgate. With an 11,300 GVWR, it has 4,216 cargo capacity. A diesel weighs almost 1,000 pounds more but so is it's GVWR so has the same cargo capacity.

So far it sounds like Ford had the best payload. I just wish they came with the Cummins.

Mine at 3700 is a loaded Denali w DM. Lose those and payload would at around 4000 plus.
