What is your SRW truck payload?

Thinking about buying a new used truck between 2004 and 2009. I have a 2001 Dodge ram 2500 with about 3000lb of payload and would like to get a truck with more without getting a dually. I have always liked my Dodge trucks but they just don't seem to have enough payload in a srw. I am looking for a 4wd four door truck with a 8ft bed not sure if I want gas or diesel. So my question is what do you have and what is your GVWR and payload? SRW only please. Thanks!

My '74 W200 had a payload of 4,500# a GVW 8,000#

If you want high payload, you don't want diesel. Those engines weigh more.

My 2015 Silverado 3500 has a payload of 3933.

So far it sounds like Ford had the best payload. I just wish they came with the Cummins.

2005 F250 with 7250 lb Dana 60 front and 9750 lb Sterling 10.5 rear @7280 lbs GVW (4500F+2780R) -

Per 9800 lb GVWR: 2520 lbs
Per 5600 lb FAWR + 6200 lb RAWR: 4520 lbs
Per 3195 lb OEM tire & rim rating: 5500 lbs
Per 4805 lb aftermarket tire & 4500 lb rim rating: 8970 lbs

The paper payload has very loose connection to actual truck capacity and you should know that by now.
Most of GVR are settled with registration/insurance fees in mind, while SRW trucks usually are limited by tire ratios.
That said, I was using my F250 flatbed heavily and with the best tires I could find in 16" size and helper bags, I was loading 4300lb of gravel on it just fine.
But I was shoveling the gravel mostly behind the cabin, so big part of the weight went on front axle.
With camper or other solid load you will not have such option and depends on the length, the weight distribution can lower that capacity by as much as 50%

I've got an '06 Dodge 3500 SLT shortbed 4X4 diesel. GVWR is 9900 lb and payload is 2864 lb per sticker.

7400lbs empty with just me and full fuel (no hitches, bed cover, tools, ect). This was weighed at a local gravel yard when I went to get some rock, so it could be a little high or a little low.

I do not have the camper package.
If you stick to GVWR, you've got a whopping 1500lbs. I've loaded up 2500lb worth of gravel, and was at 9900lb GVW, with 5460lb on the rear axle. Rear was a little squishy and if I was to make a habit of it, the rear suspension would need some help (bags, timbrens, stock upper overloads, ect).

I would have no reservations about running 2500-3000 in the bed of my truck (we were TC shopping earlier this year to replace the TH).

If it were a 3500, it would have come with the factory overloads, and a higher GVWR, but all other items are the same as the 2500 for this era (axle, brakes). Just front and rear springs varied depending on what boxes were checked during build.

we have a 2015 sierra 3500, cc, longbed, diesel. payload is 4188. if you went w/ a regular cab gasser you could get all the way up to 4660 though.

My SRW one ton (see signatur) has 11,500 gvwr with 3700 payload per sticker in door jamb.

Payload for my truck is 3,809 pounds, GVWR 11,700 pounds. You'll find that the Dodge Rams payloads are much higher in the newer, more recent models. I have both a diesel and 4x4 and still have nearly 4,000 pounds of payload.

The GVWR on my sig truck ( 6ft 6 in box )is 11500 and payload as per the door sticker is 3917.
As far as GM trucks go, keep in mind 2011 and up have beefed up frames, suspension steering and brakes, but the same body style and interiors since 2007 to 2014-15.

My 2011 3500 SRW has a 100lb higher GVWR than my old '06 GM dually crew cab ( 8ft box ) and within 50lb payload, both with the same basic options.

My previous truck was a '06 F350 4x4 6.0 PSD, Supercab. The GVWR was 11400 for a payload of about 3800. I ran it for almost 8 years with 19.5 G tires that were rated at 4500 each instead of the stock 18s that were rated at 3760 each.
