What's available if you look hard enough

I've replied to several threads asking about buying older trailers, trailers that have been in storage for an extended time, trailers under $5k, and so on. In some of them, I've threatened to post pics of mine once I got it cleaned up.

I purchased this after several months searching in the middle of summer two years ago. It needed a lot of little things, but nothing major (other than new tires of course), and nothing I couldn't do myself. I was sold almost from the moment I saw it because of the great cosmetic condition. Given the shape it was in, I knew that it would be worth investing some time/money if need be.

I had seen this floorplan online in another brand, but didn't think I could find one my old 1/2 ton could tow. What I really like is that the bedroom is an actual room with a door, and that even tho it has no slide, it has a "living room" area in front of the sofa. It feels much roomier sitting on the sofa in this than in the ones where the sofa is across the trailer and has the dinette and counter just a couple feet away.

Anyhoo, for those with smaller budgets, there are nice options out there. Just take your time looking and don't settle for something that doesn't fit your needs.

Dry weight is listed as 4850 and GVWR is 6720 so it is 1/2 ton towable tho that point is moot now with the 3/4 ton.

Very similar to a 1996 Jayco 262FK I had which was well made I might add.

Great find! The interior looks like it was as well cared for as the exterior. You should get lots of great camping memories from this Jayco. Good job!

Yes, that purple is something that really sets that trailer apart from all others. What a great color scheme!

we, the people here on the forum, to shop for how ever long it takes to find the right TT. you may have to look for a year or two but taking your time just means you will find that just right unit and even save your self some money.

There is no DW - the decor is all stock Jayco (except the throw and pillows on the sofa and the rugs). I have a co-worker who has the same trailer in the 26' version. As soon as I showed her the pictures on Craigslist, she said it's exactly like theirs (bought new). The picture on the wall, the bedspread, the curtains, everything is original Jayco.

I agree it's jus like everything else you have to take you time. I spent 3 months looking for my last pickup and then found one owned by a little old man that only took it to church on Sunday. RV's are the same way. Take you time, don't get in a hurry, and the right one will find you.

Great find EldIr.

I love older age trailer's as well. Especially their lower cost (compared to "brand new") and when they are in perfect condition (like yours). Within my region, EDPM roofs last 10-15 years. One would be very lucky to get 15+ years in an EDPM roof "in my region". If your RV roof is looking old, I hear simple coating of EDPM Liquid Rubber Roof will add many more years of life.

Knowing what I know today (and my DIY skills), I should have bought older age (less costly) TT as well. Especially looking at your TT's picture.

Way to GO!
