WOW! $60,000 / 6000 LB Truck Camper

Everything above the trucks rails. Wouldn't this have a very high COG?

I've had 2000# standard campers that felt "tippy".

I still don't understand how these TCs can get to $60K....No motor, wheels tires, transmission, chassis, etc......And it costs as much as three economy cars......

I'd be totally freaked out unloading this monster.

But it is nice inside! I think I'd rather have a Flatbed Camper if it was me.

Having owned a 2013 EC for several years now, I have a few things to mention.

If you are going to charge 50K or for that matter 35K, I would like EC to provide top quality fabrics, carpeting that had padding under it and tank monitoring system that works.

That POS $20 standard tank monitoring system will **** out sooner than later. I replaced mine with what MOST high end campers have a SeeView system.

I also had the entire interior redone. That included replacing the cheap carpet and putting in a high end carpet WITH good padding.

Leather and suede replacing all the cloth materials on the seating and window treatments. Of course upgrading the cushions from the stock ones that you will hit bottom in by the end of a year.

Replacing the floor with a high end padded vinyl wood plank look.

The interior now seriously looks like and feels like a high end class A, IMHO something they should provide from the start.

Bedlam, you might have to go the Mooney route and have one built! At least, you'd get more of what you want.

I voiced some my concerns on another thread:

1. If you run an LPG generator often while running the heater in the winter, the dual 20 lb tanks are not enough for our use.

2. I prefer more wardrobe space with a queen sized bed than having to lift the bed to access storage. The wardrobe also creates better sound insulation in the side wall.

3. Loose furniture makes for more dynamic living space, but what does it take to secure and free the furniture if you move around often?

4. We have the convection/microwave and do not miss the LPG oven, but then again we use the generator or hookups more than many truck campers.

5. A larger fridge is always welcome, but we liked the larger holding tanks in the previous Eagle Cap's despite what others have requested.

6. I question locating the batteries where you cannot access them when loaded on the truck. How will you remove the camper from the truck if you have a battery or charger failure, do the manual crank thing on a 6000 lb TC?

7. The shower looks like it allow water past the tub. They need shower walls or a deeper tub so the curtain stays contained.

8. TV placement seems oriented for the dinette more than the alternate more comfortable seating. If the TV swings out, it appears to limit access to the kitchen.

9. I have asked the manufacturers for models where the street side slide does not have to be deployed to access the cab over and bath. Evidently none of them parallel park on roads where the slide could cause interference with traffic?

batteries were moved up front

But you need to remove the camper to access the batteries.....They are in the area against the trucks bulkhead.....

I agree. They are probably trying to further the agenda that any camper will ride on any 1 ton SRW just fine. ๐Ÿ™‚

Wonder I'm in nuts or .... but looking at this as a full time unit.

TV location, yeah, Scatt recreation in Roseville, CA has one of these and a 2015 1165 on the lot right now. Said the 1200 TV angle from the recliner is'nt as comfortable.

So, drop the TV down as far as possible, it's mounted up high so one doesn't bump into it, but I'd rather have a better angle.

Nice on the 1200 that seems batteries were moved up front, grey/black tank size was reduced a few gallons. Table instead of dinette is nice.

A king bed, I guess some people need that but I like the 1165 camper because of the closet space available with a Queen bed.

I wish it was less $$ and weighed less, but I was looking at 28' class A's, and these campers don't really compromise at all compared to Newmar or Winebago A's.

Still have to see what a 2017 Ford super duty looks like, but otherwise these campers are roughly 5800lbs wet, so gas 4WD gives 800lbs payload or 2WD and we have 1200lbs, plenty for 145lb guy and 11pd doggie!

Looking to save all my $$ and pull trigger in 1st half of 2017.

I'd bet it would be a thousand pounds heavier ready to camp than my AF 1150 so no thanks for my truck. I think it is really cool, really roomy but I just couldn't get myself to pay that much for a TC and for towing my usually toy box I'd for sure have to get a Ram 5500 Flatbed.

For those with a 550/5500 flatbed I think it would make a great camper.

I'm looking at purchasing one of these triple slides when the 2017's arrive. The real ready to roll weight is why I upgraded to my 5500. If I did not tow 8000 lbs behind the TC and want 4wd, I would most likely not be looking at TC's.

****. Does any pickup have 6k+ in payload? That is 3 tons!

Here is the door sticker on my 13 F350 6.2l Lariat CC DRW:

It handles an AF 1150 with out problems but even then I'm not sure I would want to carry that camper.

2015 F-350 DRW has 14,000lb GVWR. With a CG of 58 inches this camper should sit a couple of inches behind the rear axle. If you got a box stock, no option gas engine single cab truck you would stay under the gross weight.

A diesel, DRW, super or crew cab and make it a Lariat or King Ranch and it will easily break 8,000lbs unloaded. Add this whopper of a camper, two people, a tank of fuel and some gear and you hit 15K no problem.

That things a brute! for me it would need to be new camper + new truck = $150K.
