I am looking for a nice campground that also has cabins or rooms available relatively close to Edmonton. We need 30amp elec and water (sewer nice but not required). The cabin/room is for travelling companions who don't have an RV.

Thanks!

Edit: This is for next summer...not looking to head north this time of year ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks to everyone for the ideas. Many good options there that we hadn't even thought of before. We'll look them all over and then come up with some plans..Thanks.

IMHO the campgrounds in and around Edmonton are crap. Glowing Embers (west of ED) good only as a last resort. St Albert (north of Ed) is so-so and its in St Albert so hotels are close. The best alternative is Camp In Class in Stony Plain (west of ED about 20 miles) and its in town so again hotels are close.

Yes, when I was looking at reviews for campgrounds around Edmonton there were not many good reports. And it seemed the few that didn't rate them low, had to really struggle to find something good to say!

I just took a look and Camp N Class. Looks nice! Thanks!

Kinsmen RV campground in St. Albert isn't too bad. It's 50 amps only and you can rent or buy an adapter from the manager. There aren't any cabins. Some of the sites can get pretty soft when they have lots of rain. We use it as a base camp to visit with our children who live in Edmonton. It's a busy place when the hockey schools are open. We reserve on the 1st day they are ready to take reservations. Google Edmonton campgrounds as there are a few of them. Another bean.....

Devon Lions Campground is great, 15 minutes to West Edmonton Mall. No cabins but there is a hotel in town.

Check out Elk Island National Park. There are hotels south of Hwy 16 in Sherwood Park about 30 mins away.

RainBow Valley Rv Park is just off the Whitemed Freeway and 122nd. Close to Hotels on the Whitemud and close to West Edmonton mall and Lansdowne Mall.
I think there are only about 50 sites but it is nice . You might want to check on reservations now because of the limited sites. You can't get more urban but feel secluded than this park in Edmonton.
Google there site for more info.

Ditto on netjam's comment - might try Wabamum Provincial Park a little farther west.
