We drove this very scenic road a few years ago - it was awesome.
We taped the entire trip on our dash cam so the driver could actually see some of the scenery afterwards. That seemed like a good idea, but it does not do it justice - you don't get the real depth perception but it was fun to re-live the drive somewhat.

Take your time and be very cautious - it really is worth the drive.

If you are a flat lander, it can be quite intimidating. But it is doable if your truck is up to the task both for pulling up the grades and holding things in check on the down slopes. As mentioned, some sections are quite steep although they were not overly long. The scenery is beautiful but the driver may not have much chance to admire it as it is a demanding drive. We did it this summer but probably would not tow it again.

We pulled a 34 ft fiver up Hwy 12 several times. My one suggestion, when you stop let the engine cool down before shutting it off. We got overheated alarms when we stopped at the scenic pull out at the top. Of course this assumes your truck is up to the job.
