$199 Monthly Special

Winter Texan numbers have been down this year in the Rio Grande Valley. A number of RV Parks are running a special, $199 for a month if you are a first time customer. The park I am at is part of Encore and is running this special. Gas here is $1.43 a gal. Diesel is $1.75. With the price of fuel and lot rents so cheap even the Canadian Loonie is going a long way here.

If you have been on the fence about leaving home now is the time to come.

I am using the Snow Bird special at the South Carolina state parks..

only 30 days at one park .. list of 7.. and only December 1 to March 1 and Half price...

so I did Myrtle Beach in December, Huntington Beach in January, Edisto Beach in February.
learned a lot about Trailer camping. and living in a 30 foot box. ๐Ÿ™‚

just trying to do something like this in another state.. and avoid another OHIO winter.

Never been to Texas.. or any Southern/western states. well except Florida.

We know people who have been to 3 different parks this winter all for $199 a month. Stay a month - then try another one. I hope this offer is available next winter. There are some parks we would definitely like to try out.

Chuck,

You did not offend anyone. What I was trying to convey is that for $199 you get a heck of a deal for one month. There is no way to know if you will like a park without a stay there. At $199 you would be able to test Victoria Palms to see it it is a good fit for you. You would then be able to decide if it is worth their standard price.

Chuck,

The $199 special is not being advertised now. Right now the push is to get people to reserve for next season before they leave. A few have already gone north and most start leaving right after St Patrick's day.

The special was for one month only. The idea was to get people in the door to see the park and decide to return next season at regular rates.

This is not your typical $350 a month RV Park. They do exist here but this is not one of them.

Thank You.. I am new at this... and this winter I am spending 500 per month.. 3 1/2 months.

I will be heading home in 1 week.

just collecting ideas and WHERE to go visit.

I apologize if I offended anyone.

We are an owner park, Restful Valley Ranch in Mission. We don't have many RV lots left to rent/buy, but there are a couple. One is for sale for $8500. About a 30x50, full concrete, FHU, and a shed on the property. Our yearly assessment for the park is $250, yearly water/sewer is $404, and taxes vary anywhere from $100-800 depending on the improvements you might have on your lot. Electric on top of that. So our spot with two lots, 60x60, costs of $1500 a year plus electric while we are here.

Stormy Eyes yes you will get a choice of lots although the $199.00 special has brought in a lot of new people. If not offered ask for someone to take you by golf cart to see the available sites.
The special has brought in a huge influx of new young retirees which is great to see.
For those who are not familiar with Victoria Palms the daily activity schedule reads like a cruise ship. If anyone gets bored here it is your own fault.
Someone mentioned tennis courts. We have those as well as new pickle ball courts. We have a new RC race track. Geocaching group. One of the most beautiful pools in the valley with frequent entertainment around the pool. We have an onsite restaurant. Something really unique is our Cactus Club which could be compared with the corner pub. It holds 100 plus people. It is open most Friday and Saturday nights with either a band for dancing or sometimes a meal or karaoke. We have all the usual activities such as cards, bingo, water aerobics, exercise classes dance lessons, line dance lessons, iPad classes, computer classes, wood working shop, beautiful sewing room, two dog exercise areas, a huge ballroom for dances and incredible entertainment, free cable tv with all the movie channels, plus so much more.
If you are going to try out the other encore park specials and move from one park to another I would save this one for last.
For those taking advantage of the $199.00 special I hope you enjoy your time here.

I am guessing the 199 is for 1 month only?
.
never been to Texas, and retired 2015.
.
currently I can not see the 199 special. season over!!!.
.
Hopefully they will bring it back for upcoming winter..
I would be looking for 4 months.. even if 4 different locations.

I'm hoping these kind of deals are still around when I get to retire in 10 years! I saw one park somewhere in RGV where it was $199 for 6 months for first-timers right on the website.

There are many parks in the $200/month range here in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. Most have swimming pools and hobby interests. In ten years, they might be a lot more or a lot less, but most who are here now, won't be.

Stormy Eyes,

Thank you for giving them my name. I appreciate the effort on your part, but I am more concerned that you have a good time when you get here. My suggestion is that you park your rig and ask for a tour of the sites before you decide on one. The park is divided into a few sections. My suggestion is for a site in the new section as they are larger.

Oh, you think they will let us pick the spot, even at the $199 rate? We would not have thought of that as are so very new at this; we just picked up this prepared Motorhome (our first) in late January. We rented one eight years ago and enjoyed a few days at Victoria Palms. We are delighted to go return. I'll give some thought to site orientation, as you suggest. Thanks for sharing all this info. If you think of more, any other informative pearls tossed our way will also be appreciated.

Stormy Eyes,

When you arrive, decide if you want a specific orientation of your rig and awning. If you want shade from the sun for your awning then you will want the awning to face north. March can get hot here.

J&J,
Yes I am at Victoria Palms and the special is open to all first time renters. The special is on their web site and in the local Winter Texan Newspapers.

J&A,
Yes, there is bingo and shuffleboard here, but there is also tennis and a bike club.

Western Park,
You are correct in that lots of $800 renters are unhappy that new renters can rent for $199. To sweeten the pot a little, Encore is paying a $50 finders fee to anyone who is a resident who secures a new $199 one month resident.
thanks for altering me to this deal. I just made a reservation. We plan to complete our month at our current site in Rockport and then arrive March 4 at Victoria Palms. I gave them you screen name and hope you get your credit.
