AZ this winter suggestions

Having never been to AZ I find it overwhelming searching for a place to spend this winter. We want a place that has most of the ammenities, pickleball being a priority, plus the usual, dance, craft, etc. opportunities.

We understand it might be a little late to make reservations, but going to give it a try anyway. Open to suggestions from all those who have experience in that part of the world.

Thx

My CB handle was "contemplator" and it's proving pretty taxing to think of all the possibilities for AZ... plus the added pressure of running out of time since I do know all the people who have a place make reservations for the following year.

Thx again for all the suggestions.

FYI.....Indian Waters is in Indio, CA not Casa Grande, AZ.

It has all you could ask for including an out of town address. That is really highfalutin

If you don't mind being a little further out Casa Grande just put in 28 courts ( I think that is the last count) and putting in more.. GREAT courts and very good players.. It''s a little windy there but still a very nice place...

Happy Trails RV resort in Surprise Az.. 400 + members in the pickle ball club.. City courts in Surprise have great play too.. Happy Trails is hard to get into since most are reserved a year in advance.. You can call Surprise Realty which handles rentals.. Would be cheaper to find a private person to rent from.. Spring training starts in March so the area is busy at that time.. Also Sun Flower in Surprise just put in some more courts. Not the good play that Happy Trails has, but you can always play at the City courts...
You'll love Happy Trails, the friendlist place we've been...

Cocopah RV and Golf Resort has a NEW pickle ball court and the rest of the resort is being completely updated. It is a great place to winter. The activities are second to none. If you decide on Cocopah, you better reserve now. It will get filled up soon.
No person is completely worthless ..... one can always serve as a bad example.

Voyager Resort in Tucson has a huge pickleball following. They have tournaments and all other activities you could ask for. We were there in 2013, went back this year and will go back in January. The thing I like the best is that people are friendly. They probably have a waiting list too, but it's worth it.

Arizona is BIG on pickleball. We play every morning. ๐Ÿ™‚ and we don't have a $200 paddle:E - more like $75

For winter you want to be looking at the greater Phoenix area, Tucson (the Voyager RV Park), Casa Grande (can be windy with blowing dust) and Yuma. We like the Tucson area and live south of there now.

Check out this site:

Places to play Pickleball

You can use this site for every state. It's becoming bigger than tennis now and is even being taught in elementary school. It can be a very fast competitive game - good exercise.

Thx for all the words of wisdom. Appreciate info from actual participants. Many times in reviews it's either Rosy/Terrible so one still has to guess.

Pickleball... youtube should give anyone a true pic.

Thx again

Start calling resorts and getting your name on waiting lists. Lots of things happen and people cancel. For your first year get into a park you may like but then travel and explore others until you find the one you want to call your winter home. Have fun and enjoy the wonderful Arizona winters.

Arizona is a big place and has all kinds of different temps during the winter months. We kind of settled in Casa Grande at Sunscape RV Resort
about 8 miles out of the actual town. Quiet and clean, friendly and safe. Not that all the parks in CG are not, just kind of outside all the traffic. Palm Creek in CG is a true 5 star resort and if your a first time visitor, they have a free 2 week stay package so you can give it a try. Since you have not been out here you may want to stay a few weeks in the various cities and get a feel for what you like and don't. I came out from a small town north of Detroit and this is NOTHING like your used to in Michigan..Hope to see ya out here.
