Campground Guide

Any recommendation for a national campground guide or Great Lake guide. Something with site listing and rating.

I use everything, depending on how few cg's there are in an area. I start with rvpr and rvparky.k

I use a bunch of different apps, but AllStays Camp & RV combined with RVParkReviews is my usual source, and the Ultimate Campground Project app for non commercial sites.

When the RVParkReviews website was updated last year, the number of items in the "amenities list" was significantly increased. That meant that most parks do not yet have data for the newly added items. Slowly, as new reviews are submitted, many reviewers do add to our knowledge of the features and amenities at the parks they review.

With over 15,000 parks reviewed, this will be a slow process. Later this year we expect there will be a mechanism by which park owners can access their park's listing and provide this information directly. In the meantime, I suggest that you treat "?" responses as "that information is not known at this time."

Woodalls book is good but very bulky. A few years back they put out a CD of their campground guide. I still have that one but don't know if they still sell it or not.

I looked at that RVPARKY site and don't see how that is any improvement or anywhere close to the equal that rvparkreviews.com is. Many of the parks have no reviews, yet are still rated. I compared the ratings in RVparky with rvparkreviews aggregate ratings and lo and behold, identical. So it is obvious that RVparky just lifted those ratings. I looked at the photos on my parks and again, lo and behold, just copied from my website. Nothing original at all. Then there is the reviews that are on the website. Checked one on a park I know, lowest possible rating, only comment was one word "expensive". Truth of the matter is that park is the lowest priced of any full hookup park within 50 miles. Reviews like that are really helpful, lol. If that is what "uncensored and unedited" gets you, I would stick with RVparkreviews.

The Woodall's and the Trailer Life Campground Directories are now the Good Sam RV Travel Guide and Campground Directory.

I just looked at that campground view. Maybe they have better coverage in other locales.
I looked at my area 20 mile radius,(which is straight line not road) straight line means nothing in this area! 13 campgrounds listed,all descriptions quoted directly from the parks web site, zero reviews, zero pictures, zero videos.
For my area it does not seem to be useful.

I've used the Trailer Life guide and rvparkreviews.com. In either case you need to take the ratings with a grain of salt. In the case of the former I've had good luck using GS parks. Where the latter is concerned I look for consistency of comments/ratings from one reviewer to the next (some people just can't be pleased). With very few exceptions (or areas of the country with virtually no CG's) we've had good luck.
