Hi all:
Searching for some ideas for full h/u campgrounds in or near Jackson, WY. We would like a base near GTNP to explore for a few days before heading to Fishing Bridge in Y'Stone. There doesn't appear to be many on the web. Ideas?

We had no issues with Colter Bay, other than the pine needles all over the inside of the trailer. Still finding them after 5 years. Kinda brings back memories.

Probably makes it smell nice too. ๐Ÿ™‚

Having driven by all of the private (hookup) parks mentioned, Colter Bay would definitely be our choice. In the future we may get a generator, which would allow us to consider the no-hookup NPS/NFS parks for more than a couple nights. To the OP - there really aren't a lot of RV-friendly CGs in GTNP and Jackson. Somewhat surprising, considering its popularity, but a lot of folks just make a day trip to the Tetons from Yellowstone. That may be part of the reason.

We really enjoyed Colter Bay two years ago. Great location and good restaurant and grocery store on property.

Colter Bay remains one of our favorite campgrounds in the entire country. We made an easy day trip up to Yellowstone. Let me be clear, this was not our primary visit to Yellowstone, but just to say we did make a day visit there from Colter Bay.

We spent 2 weeks at Gros Ventre Campground, but its a simple boondocking campground and while there we had 4 bull moose bed down about 100 yards from our campsite for two nights and a few days later a cow moose with twins was less than 50 yards from our site. We did stay at the Head Waters CG,reserve and even with the America the Beautiful pass its expensive. Coulter Bay was booked up, and they were doing some electrical work and had a section close last Sept. If one of you is over 62 you can get the ATB pass at any NP entrance and it will save you a ton of money. Also if you choose one of the full hookup CG make advanced reservations, cause they have the only game in town!

Colter Bay Village is the best one for touring Grand Teton Nat'l Park.

Others are: Grand Teton Park RV in Moran - not good reviews

...and Headwaters (formerly Flagg Ranch) - which used to get bad reviews because of electric problems and muddy sites.

Here's a link to the ones in Jackson itself and they're not in a nice Teton setting as Colter Bay Village. They're parking lots.

Jackson, WY RV PARK REVIEWS

Note that any of the above full hookup parks are extremely expensive. Do you really need hookups?

With our 40' motorhome we always stay in Gros Ventre Campground (our favorite) in the park or at Colter Bay Campground in the park and right next door to Colter Bay Village RV Park. Both have 300 attractive sites and no reservations. We've never had a problem getting a site in those two. They both have dump stations.

Have a good trip!

The Virginian Motel in downtown Jackson has a RV park... Very expensive, but the restaurant has a great breakfast.. For those familiar with Bubba's Restaurant, they have moved to a new building across the street and the food is not as good as it was in the old rustic place.
There is a KOA south of town, not real nice and very expensive..
There is also a RV park outside the north entrance in Moran, not the most elegant park and it gets mixed reviews, but I stayed there and it was OK. I was in a Class B and the water and electricity worked and they have wifi. I didn't care about the amenities that much because I was in one of the two parks every day. It was a place to sleep.

We stayed at Grand Teton Park RV Resort.

It is east of Moran.
We were only interested in full hookups. Fuel was expensive. Least expensive fuel was on south side of Jackson.
We enjoyed eating at Merry Piglets Mexican Food in Jackson.
