Considering a trip to DC area. Looking for suggestions for a RV park/campground near the metro or public transportation. Saw some recommendations a while back but a search did not produce any.
Thanks

We stayed a couple of days. Actually a nice KOA. They have shuttles that run to the metro.

DITTO -- Good RV park and is close to the Metro. The Metro take you right down into DC and you avoid having to find a parking spot.

Been there several times.

Actually the daily shuttle runs from the campground to in front of the Capitol building.

We really enjoyed Cherry Hill but some of these other choices look great also. We might have to try another choice next trip.

X2 on Fairfax County in Reston. Good price too. 2nd choice is Bull Run, Manasses though it is further out.

We enjoyed Greenbelt Park with a daily camping fee of $16/day ,
but it is dry camping. This may have increased this year to $20/day. The camp ground has showers, dump station & water. It's
a 10 minute drive to the Collage Park Metro Station or a 30 minute walk partly
thru the park. We stayed 12 days and saw most of DC's attractions last fall. The US National Parks staff were very helpful, even suggested and directed us to the nearby location to get Senior SmarTripยฎ cards for reduced rates on the Metro and also providing a Metro routes map.

Another option is Pohick Bay Regional Park south of town. Nice facilities and away from the noise. Some rustic sites, some with electric, some FHU depending on your needs. It took us less than 1/2 an hour to get to a metro station. We also stayed at Greenbelt but liked Pohick better.

We're just not fans of RV parks and like the more woodsy atmosphere.

Cherry Hill for sheer convenience of getting into the city.

Bull Run for prettiness.

The best choice by far is Cherry Hill Park. 5 minute drive to Greenbelt subway station, and they are experts on touring DC. The park is well run with nice amenities and facilities.

We have been to Washington DC KOA in Fredricksburg, it's a nice park, but too far out of the loop, and the traffic near there can be a nightmare.

If hookups are not required we stayed at Greenbelt Park. It is located just minutes from the mall. We stayed there for 5 nights and absolutely loved it. Very clean and picturesque. Strange that you were still this close to a large metropolitan area but still felt as though you were miles and miles away from the madness.
