Finally made it to Quartzsite

Hi Jolly. That's the name of the turn off a few miles above Quartzsite. Looks just like it did on the satellite views except for there are only 7 rv's so far. I am a half mile off of the highway and found the perfect spot (for me). 85 degrees in the shade of the motorhome.
I hit 3 casinos on the way down and lost $ at each one, so far everything is going according to the plan. Stayed at casinos the first 2 nights then at Lost hills RV park in Lost Hills Ca alongside I-5. Just happened to be located right next to a truck tire shop which worked out well because when I woke up I had a flat on the inner right rear tire. Turns out that when I had new tires put on they went with the 10 year old valve stems to save me money. My mistake, if they had asked I would have asked for new ones. Anyway I had all of the stems replaced with steel stems at Gutierez tire shop. They only charged $15 per tire. Nice guys. Only set my trip back 1 hour.
Arrived in Quartzsite and got gas at the Shell on Hwy 95 north , nice lady, and she recommended the RV place a bit further North for propane, water and dump. These guys were really nice.(I forgot the name of the place but will post it when I get back there) I told them I was a newbee and they just smiled. Then they gave me some suggestions on places to park for dry camping.
Found a site that is actually flatter than a pancake (remember that term?) The first thing I did after backing in was put up a piece of 50% shade cloth that is 12x50' on the southwest side of the MH. It cut the heat immediately, glad I thought to bring it along.
Sorry it must be obvious that I used to blog and this is starting to feel like the beginning of a book. Thanks for reading.
By the way this is being typed using my laptop and the handy new hotspot I found out that I have on my att phone. Technology, amazing. Now if I could figure out how to post pics from my smarter than me phone I would post them too.
That might be High Jolly, don't quote me on that.

Seems like I heard someone once mention ants here. They were right. Tiny red/orange ants and lots of them especially if you find yourself standing in their area while trying to hook up your solar panels. They don't seem to bite too hard but you still get that creepy up the leg feeling.
In answer to a few of the previous posts I realize I am here too early WyoT but I have about 8 weeks of slow greenhouse selling season so this is my time. With the new laws in Wa. and the coming law in Oregon business will be brisk again next year. The wife decided to play with grandkids with her time off.
Yes the name of that place was The Pit Stop (thanks Tex), didn't meet the mean lady just two really friendly informative guys that actually walked briskly out to the MH as soon as I pulled in looking lost.
JayGee, not going to turn this into a blog but I do plan to post a few times to help explain this area to folks like me that have never been here. Feel free to follow along or PM me.
Since I don't have a toad I won't be getting out too much so sorry about that.
Pizza will be the first time out amsgam.
It's supposed to cool down this weekend liltip, stop in if you get the chance. Right hand side of the main road 1/2 mile off the blacktop. Washington Minnie class c. Look for the MH with the shade cloth all over it.
Awesome pics don/shar.
As far as services I have found the cell tower about 1/4 mile away from me works pretty well. It also allows for a pretty fast hotspot capability.
TV not so much I scanned both analog and digital and came up with 7 digital by trying a reset every 90 degrees with my batwing antenna. Unfortunately I don't speak Spanish and none of the 7 channels spoke English. Glad I brought along the first 6 years of Saturday Night Live. (those first couple of years were way funnier back then).
Got my storage/navy shower area set up beside and behind the moho. I am using one of those ez up canopies with camo tarp all the way around the sides. It's a great place to get all of the big stuff out of the MH. Case of pop case of beer. Have to pause there at beer. I usually drink 1 or 2 beers a week at home but before I knew it I was opening #4 here in only a couple of hours. It just seems to taste better here. That and the fact that you have to drink it faster so it won't get warm.
Nice and dry here too. If you happen to be from a state where the moisture in the air just migrates directly through your skin (like wa. or Or.) Be ready to drink lots of water. I wish I had bought the icemaker I was thinking about before I left.
I did bring one extra 12v battery and 2 100 watt solar panels. I ran an oscillating desk 12" fan all night blowing into the bedroom area off of a small 500 watt invertor, otherwise I would have slept outside on the reclining chair.
That brings to mind the Stars, zillions of them, should have brought the smallish telescope. Even without it though the sky is amazing here. Still a little light pollution but an awesome view just the same.
So many thing in just one day but my typing finger is getting tired so gotta go.
If anyone has any suggestions for a better place to be posting these posts (other that a blog) (I've already done that and got tired of it after a year at Thegreenhouseguy.com) I am all ears.

We love Quartzsite for a couple of weeks a year. The last time we were there we found a place in the South LaPaz area where someone had laid out a border to park in. While walking around in the desert we found where someone had collected rocks and made a map of the USA, states with capitols marked.

We made Quartzsite last year in January, our first time there. We won't be there this year, but hoping for next year. Try to find a parking spot in the center of the activities, it was great watching people, RV's and toys... non-stop geezer action. JH ๐Ÿ™‚

Any suggestions for
1 month stay around Tucson
Good park near Bisbee?
Good parks on coast in Texas and FL panhandle.

Thanks
You might like Cochese Terrace just outside of Benson. Great place to stay about 40 miles from Tucson and maybe the same to Bisbee.

We like Beer Bellys. South side of Main Street. Outside bar. You can take your pet into the area. Sandwiches in the rear area.
Thanks for info!! We've not made it to that one. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Have fun. You guys are way early. Nothing much goes on until mid January. Think that place is called Pit Stop and couple miles north of I-10 on 95 and on the east side of the hwy. They are open 24/7 and sell propane, water, and a dump. That gruff old woman is actually quite nice and very efficient. Last year they charged about $25 for water fill up and dump. Varies with size of RV. I told wife it actually varies with value of RV not the size. :B

Different RVers stay in different places. Amateurs stay south of of Quartzsite on hwy 95 at mile post 99.

Everyone should go to Quartzsite once in their life. In January it will be buzzing. Scout out the main street and the parking north of the main street behind the swap meet. Those spaces will become more important as January arrives. Hard to find parking on main street.

The place you got the LP, dump and water is the RV Pit Stop. About the best in town for those services, but can get very busy on occasion. You should enjoy your time there.
