Nicest Campground on East Side of Glacier

We are planning a trip to Glacier next summer and will be coming from Minnesota. What is the nicest campground on the East side. Looks like none of the parks in the campground have electricity? We have a 30 foot 5th wheel. I'd love views and a bit of space.

What we - and others - have found at Johnson's is that it is hilly and tight on roads and sites. Makes for uneven sites and tight turning. Depends on your rig.

We had no problem with Johnson's on the east side. Just out side the park entrance. You can walk to the visitor center for the shuttles and to restaurants just outside the park. Great view as well.

photonut4 hit the nail squarely on the head.

We have stayed a few times at both sides but concentrate on the east side - mainly for the hiking but we just like it much better.

We stay at the KOA; nice place. Do not recommend Johnson's; have looked at it and settle in at the KOA. They have a kinda snippy attitude when you complain about the poor WiFi but other than that it is great.

We stayed at Johnsons Campground on the east side. If you get in the front section it is up on a hill with a spectacular view of the mountains. Every morning the pink glow of the mountains is incredable. Like stated earlier there is a lot of wind both day and night.

Some of the best campgrounds may be on the west side, but some of the best hiking is on the east side. Next time I go to Glacier NP we will definitely stay on the east side so we don't have a 2 hour drive to get to the incredible hikes offered on the east side.

Most campgrounds in the park let you run your genset from 5-7am, then 11am-1 pm, then again from 5-7pm..breakfast, lunch, dinner. St Mary has many campgrounds that have electricity. And yes, if your traveling from say Great Falls through Browning (don't stop) there is always wind..and high wind..cows, horses, dogs, people that you have to drive around. I like the KOA in St Mary, but I know the owner.

We always stay on the west side of the park and travel back and forth that way. Lots more to do from West Glacier to Kalispell.

Right, bring a generator.

You probably mean campgrounds in the parks, right? Yes, I would have to say of the three campgrounds we camped at, Many Glacier edges out the others for scenery. They are all great!

For previous posts on this subject search for `Glacier' in RV Parks then search the results for `east'. We stayed at St. Mary's.

This is where we stayed. Also gave a straight shot to Waterton on the Canada side.

We stayed at Glacier Meadow RV park on Hwy 2, 16 miles west of East Glacier park entrance. Long level pull thrus, water and electric and holding tank pump out included in the daily rate. Quiet, peaceful. Limited cell service but they do have a cell booster in the pavillion that worked fine. I'm sure my Wilson Sleek would have worked there but didn't have it then. www.glaciermeadowrvpark.com and look at photos and rates. We would stay there again. Check out www.rvparkreviews.com for East Glacier Montana.
