Recommendations on I-5 near Weed / Lake Shasta?

I've been reading RVParkReviews but nothing stands out.

We just need an overnight spot with 15amp and a tent site, easy access to the freeway. (On RVParkReviews most parks in the area indicate that they allow tents, but of course I will call and confirm that.)

I want to make a reservation, rather than drive around and look at parks, because we will be at the end of a long day's drive and it will be the weekend.

I'd appreciate hearing you folks' suggestions :).

I called around yesterday. It's harder than I thought, to find a place that will allow a tent! Those that do, do not have electricity available for tent people. Ended up with a reservation at a county park :).

Thank you, folks!

Looks like McCloud is closed for the season, and Mountain Gate does not allow tents, so the two in the post above this one are the contenders so far :).

Friendly RV Park south of Weed (exit 745) tent sites $20. If you stay at Yreka RV, good Mexican food across freeway - Casa Ramos. Safe travels.

Mountain Gate RV park is in Redding....not Mt.Shasta/Weed area. There is a KOA in Mt. Shasta and also Lake Siskiyou which is a short drive from the city. Yreka RV Park(about 25 miles north of Weed) is very nice and have seen tents set up there before.

We stayed here one night, they have tent sites:

We slept well there and had the surprise of waking up to a helicopter on a trailer next to our campsite. Needless to say, it was very quiet.

Thanks, folks!

Mountain Gate is one of the few that does not allow tents, according to RVPR. Yreka, I am not sure. I have stayed at the other park in Yreka, called Wailaka or something like that. It was ok, but no grass, just gravel and trees. You folks are talking about the other park, is that right?

#3 for Yreka RV Park. However, not sure if they have tent sites.

We stayed one night in Yreka RV Park while passing through in early September. Very convenient off I-5 and to the gas station down the hill and through the freeway overpass. Quiet place. I would stay there again.

We always stay at Mountain Gate RV Park which is located about 3 miles south of Lake Shasta - very nice. I believe there is one either right on the lake or one of it's arms - not nice like Mt Gate - been about 15 years so it maybe gone. I doubt reservations are needed as it's likely the prolonged drought has dried up Lake Shasta - haven't been down that way for a couple of years so that's just my speculation.
