RV Park Reviews??

Posters are still recommending RV Park Reviews as if nothing has changed. Compared to the original review site, the new site is vastly inferior. Slow loading with a lot of reviews missing. Is it just me or does everyone else think it is still as good as it was before? What happened?

I liked the old site better and like others said, I have had trouble posting reviews so I have stopped trying. Make it difficult and people will give up.

Just found something I don't like about the new interface. Before when searching for a campground within a certain distance based on certain amenities, we could search Canada. Now it only provides the name of states in the drop down, can't search for campgrounds within X miles of a city up here in Canada.

I just looked at rvpr for info for an upcoming night. It does appear that they are adding details to it as they can. Last week when I was using it the listing of nearby cities just listed them with mileage but no compass point. That is now on there. I use that in case the park I originally looked at wasn't to my liking I can look easily at the next city in the direction we're headed.

It appears that TripAdvisor wants to be the end all tourist info stop. There is a review for Vegas RV Park in Las Vegas, NM, NOT NV. The person who put it on did NOT stay there - they were in a hotel in NV & it is NOT for the rv park. So, now this park which is no more than a dusty field alongside some storage units has a 5 star rating with TA! I did see a flag that I clicked and filled in the box that the review is in the wrong place.

We went on to Storrie Lake State Park which was even cheaper than the storage lot. We were so glad we did. Sure, we were away from everything but the scenery was worth it!

rvparkreviews.com new format is still in a formative stage, with new features in development.
The owner communicated with me recently about enhanced upcoming tools specific to outdoor hospitality.

The 1 thing that I miss in the new format is the near by cities across state lines are not shown. If you’re looking at Oklahoma City OK this isn’t a problem. Chattanooga TN Pensacola FL or Savannah GA it is. But it is still the best of the choices IMHO

I never claimed anywhere else was more comprehensive. Nor did I promote Trip Advisor as an alternative.

I stated that I dislike the new format and that it's no longer worth the headache to me.

What "Trip Advisor" is everyone mentioning? It sure isn't as good as RVParkReviews since I can't find a campground on it.

I agree. Trip Advisor is making a big push with park owners and is very popular in popular areas but overall it is not a good directory. I keep tooting the same horn but seriously if enough of us jump on to one platform that will be the winner.

What I 've noticed is that all reviews are still shown, but that older reviews have less influence on the parks average rating. They still have exposure, just less weight in determining the current average rating review # .

I think this is a good policy, in RVPR. It reflects, emphathizes today, vs yesterday. Private Parks / Camps change ownership on national average of 4.7 years. Each time, the new owner looks at the BUSINESS differently, with growth, income, or other value such as development property other than as a camp. It manifests that change of management a shift in policy toward that end .
What do you value? A flame or glowing review from yesteryear or yesterdays?

If only the last 2 years reviews on Trip Advisor.com were shown on our camp, we would be # 1, of 22 instead of # 11 on our area.
Navigating the new site is just a learning curve, gives more.

I've grown to like the new version. At first, I noticed that older reviews were missing, but I imagine that they loaded it in stages. I've noticed older reviews of places I've stayed appearing now. I do wonder about the question marks on some of the amenities listed. If I was doing a review, I'd have to put a question mark on things I didn't even look for like a playground or pet area (no kids, no pets) or rest rooms or showers (I have my own). It would be nice if there was a choice for "Not Evaluated".

Add me to the list of those who dislike the new format. The new site has succumbed to the Facebookalization so prevalent on the Internet now - prettier format but much less useful. I'm also tired of dealing with the bugs - There are still parks missing from the searches and I don't like having to scroll around search results as much as is necessary with the new format to get information that was all listed on one page in the prior version. I'm not contributing reviews there anymore and have found another source for rv park listings. Im grateful it's been there for the past several years but find its just not worth the headache anymore.

Rather like the old site better. But the new one does load faster. Does take up more band width I think.
