We are hoping to head for Texas in about a week. How hard will it be to find a campsite in: Palacios, Rockport, Goose Island, and Mustang Island? :@

Thanks rolling rhoda, I am interested in Mustang Island! We usually spend a little time there.

I'm on Mustang Island. Gulf Waters and Pioneer appear mostly full with a few empty spots. There are RVs coming and going daily from these two parks.

Yes, I have been to the state park. There is a county park near the beach that I liked better. We have also stayed at Goose Island park and liked the sites on the water. I was wondering more about the commercial RV parks and how full they are this year.

Mustang Island State Park campground is literally just a parking lot with hookups along each side. Just like Wal-Mart only with hookups.

Thank you all for the comments. It sounds like it is about the same as it was 2 years ago when we were there last.

X2. Spring break for Texas A&M starts on 3/12.That Rockport area isn't a main spring break gathering point, but since it's on the Gulf and closer to Austin will get kids on a budget. I would book early.

Rockport is basically booked! Winter Texans will not start leaving for another month. Try the State Parks, also there is a county park in Port Aransas, as these have a two week max stay.

You shouldn't have any trouble (unless it's a Holiday or local event). The trend has been seasonal visitors are not going all the way to the Valley like 10+ years ago, but still lots of places. I've been told the Corpus area is filling more as time goes on.

Park status changes daily so no one can give you a definite answer. You could make a reservation now.
