You hear of a lot of people going across the border from Yuma into Mexico for dental work and prescriptions. Is this also done if staying in Texas. If so where do you go for this ?

We used to use Apple Denistry but as you noted, he is very busy and can be difficult to get into especially during peak season. We were pleased with his work. We now use Joel Bocanegra who is on the third floor of the Angel Building. He does excellent work, is reasonable although not as cheap as some dentists down there, and usually not too difficult to get an appointment.
I understand the comment from Motorcycle Jack about not needing to get meds in Mexico because of Tricare coverage. We also have Tricare for meds so have little need for meds. But we don't have dental insurance. The price difference between procedures such as a root canal, bridge or crown in the states and in Progresso are huge. While price consideration is important, it is also essential to select a competent dentist. Hence the advice to get advice from folks that have gone that route.

Last two years went to Rio Grande Valley area, Mission Texas. All the people we talked to go across the border to Nuevo Progreso for medicine and dental work. I have Tricare so don't need nor want to get cheaper medicine nor dental work. I understand the reason for it as my mother and father go there every year (in their late 80's) and go there for their meds and work. Most of the places I take them speak excellent English, have graduates of US schools and medicines that look and read like their US counterparts.

Full timing isn't "always camping". It's a different life style living in an RV.

Sorry, I was using names that most people use, I know the difference. There is actually a Progreso, Mexico down in the Yucatan.

Three places considered somewhat safe. Progresso, Progresso, and Progresso.

We also have our dental work done in Progresso. Over the years went to three different dentists until we settled on the one we use now. All did good work, just like this one best. Get personal recommendations from friends and neighbors down. They are not all created equal. Some have very up to date equipment and practices and some not so much so.

Would you give us the name of who you settled on.

I like to go into the other states, didn't know they were so dangerous, is it you don't want to leave Texas or are you telling us it dangerous to enter Texas :b:b
If at first you don't succeed--don't try sky diving!!
I'd rather be camping

We have gone to Nuevo Progreso Mexico for many years with very good results. This is a few miles south of Weslaco in the Rio Grande Valley.
