How prevalent is theft at campgrounds?

I see items to lock your power cord down so it cant be stolen, locks for coolers, etc. What about leaving your RV unlocked while at the pool?

Thanks

Never had stuff stolen from RVs. About 40 years ago had some items left on table stolen when tent camping in national forest.

DW and I were on our way home last weekend and stopped off at a restaurant on the outskirts of Stockton, Ca (crime ridden area). Parked the rig, started walking towards the cafe and I spot a car with tinted windows pull up near our rig. This was a good distance from regular parking. We go inside, but I'm watching them fron the restaurant. Next thing I know a second car pulls up and they move closer to the Moho. I get up and walk towards the Moho and they left. I am certain I would have been broke into had I not been aware of my surroundings. Next time I will drive to the next town, but when you're on the road, it's hard to really know safe areas.

In the past 16 years of full-timing, someone swiped the plastic cutting boards that we put under our jacks so we wouldn't sink in mud. We had pulled away from the site and remembered that we didn't pull them up. We circled the campground and they were gone already! That's it.

Stayed at Oregon dunes campground 2 years ago. Our gas cans were stolen. The ranger said locals always stole gas cans then use the gas and throw the cans in the bushes. He actually found one of our empty cans and returned it to us. Everyone at the camp had this happen.

30 plus years of camping nothing taken, don't lock much up, chairs, grill, games left outside ........ Often don't lock our doors, would rather someone let the security staff out if there were a fire etc. ๐Ÿ™‚

We keep the camper door locked when not around it. Otherwise never had a problem at all.

We solved this problem by only taking crappy stuff with us. If anyone steals anything, it's no loss.

And we're heavily insured.

Been camping for 34 years and never had anything stolen, but then again we don't leave anything of value out in plain sight. We lock the TT up when going to pool or rec center.

Most if not all RV owners will look out for each other, but at times it's their guests that have concerned me. Any issues I've seen in campgrounds are from guests and not RV owners themselves.

I've been camping over 50 years and have had things stolen twice. The first time we were tent camping and we had food stolen from our cooler. The second time it was some chairs. I would say lock everything you can to be safe.
