Yup we are already thinking about joining our friends down at our Winter digs and it's really not to early to think about it. With that we are still getting out camping locally with friends over the Summer and enjoying times with friends here in Reno.

After traveling years in the SW we have settled into the Casa Grande, AZ area and now about 11 miles South on I-10 in Eloy, AZ in particular.

We'll be at the Silverado RV Resort again this Winter.

The area has so much history, like alot of the SW, and plenty to do. Casa Grande has many of the big box stores, good restaurants (many ethnic), great grocery stores and the list goes on and on.

Winter climate? Tough to beat...and no bugs!! Day time temps high 60's to mid 70's (last year we had temps in the 80's in January). Night time high 30's to mid 40's and have never froze up. Here is a Trip Journal entry from January 2016.

Our Trip Journal has the 'skinny' on our travels.

Safe travels everyone!!

I am flying to Fun N Sun in San Benito, Texas on Thursday. Unfortunately the time has come when financial and medical reasons are forcing us to start staying home for the winter. We have loved our times in the RGV and will really miss our friends and events there. I will be spending the week getting our place ready to sell.

May your medical issues pass.

Wife had major health issues 4 months ago.. better now and set to depart.

Thanks for the head-up on RGV...
this Forum offered much information and advice for me to go there.

Gonzalez Burgers is on Silver St in Donna. From I-2 take Salinas Rd south. Cross the RR Tracks and and BUS 83. Then look to the right for Siver St. Right onto Silver and travel for a few blocks. Gonxzalez is on the left in a white building without a sign. It does have a few tables in front of the building. Street parking only

We have arrived in Mesa for the winter. Temps under 95, nights cool so we can sleep without A/C, no lines or waiting at our favorite restauarants - we love Oct & Nov in the area.

I think if you go to the snowbirds page and yell loud for the moderator, He can tell you where "Gonzales hamburger place (sp) " is plus other color for the area. We will be in Mercedes for a few days. Got to go to Mexico as SILs are low on Callula. Good BBQ in the area also

Sqdancecaller,

Last year we left from Western, NY on Dec 31st to spend the winter in Florida.

I did not trust that the weather would be passable on New Years Eve so I found a place in Kentucky that would store my camper ($20. per foot per month)cheap.

We drove down and left it there around the first of November.

That way December 31st we just loaded everything into the truck and picked up the camper in Kentucky.

This arrangement was nice because it also gave us an option to leave it down there when we came north again, if there was bad weather or deep snow.

OK.

Here is the link to every traffic cam on major routes for Florida. Just put a check-mark in "Cameras" box, and pan the map down to the Keys. There are appx 34 cameras along the 1...
