I have been to many, but there is really only one I will never go back to, Candy Hill in Winchester, VA. This is not a bash on them, just curious as to others black listed places.

There was one we stayed at in Missouri along the Jacks Fork River that we won't be going back to. It was old, dirty and not very well ran. Little creatures would come out of the walls while you were showering, creepy and one of the reasons for me moving from a pop up to a TT. It felt like we were camping in someones neglected back yard. I tried to find their name but Google wasn't very helpful, maybe they have closed.

We stayed at the Gothenberg KOA also, and the review are correct, don't stay here!!

My worst experience is Pine Grove RV park off I-80 between Omaha and Lincoln. Now mind you, I believe in rules, but read some of the reviews of this place, the female owner, Kathy, is a maniac and a NUT!! If you stay in your RV and don't come out, it may be ok. But try to use any of the facilities and she will be watching you like a hawk for stupid piddly stuff!! Never again!!

Back in the late 90's we took a trip to South Dakota and Nebraska. We stayed at some nice KOA's, but one wasn't up to snuff. It was at Gothenberg ,Nebraska. The roads were full of pot holes, weeds 6ft high in the playground etc. We stayed at a real nice KOA in Iowa and told them about the one in Gothenberg and they said they heard many complaints about that one too.So we wrote a letter to KOA headquarters thinking they wanted to know about it. Instead of saying they would check it out, they sent our letter to the owners who wrote us a nasty letter. It was about 15 years before we stayed at another KOA. But out of all the KOA's we stayed in, that was the worst.I thought, maybe they got new owners and things are better. But I did an online search for reviews and the reviews indicate things haven't changed.http://www.rvparky.com/location/gothenburg-koa

Bayley's in Scarborough ME. 600 campsites mostly families with their kids and neighbors kids running around unsupervised while the parents sit around the campfire and drink beer all day.

The park rents ATV pedal tricycles so the kids ride those around in packs on the dirt gravel roads seeing how close the can get to you while walking your dogs.

I saw a 6-7 year old girl ride her bike into the side of a stopped car. No parents around.

The camp store wisely sold marshmallow guns so there were roving groups of kids roaming around shooting at each other. At one point they were climbing on our picnic table and shooting at each other under our motor home.

Worst part was we had prepaid a week and they said no refunds and it wasnt cheap so we stayed and suffered.

Any place with barking dogs at night, or loud drunks. The new phenomenon in CA seems to be kids with laser lights. I really don't spend much time in public campgrounds in July and August these days.

In the last 50 years there have been too many to name. Every once in awhile I run into people that are dangerous and have just packed up and left.

I stayed in 10 different campground in the last month and most of them I said a one point or another "Check this one off the list, we're never coming back". But then, when were at the next campground I think compared to this dump the last one wasn't so bad on second though.

Most of all my complaints are just "that"... It's the condition or the event at that time. It probably won't exist the next time I visit there or more to the point, I probably won't remember it. So, my list is very short. Now where'd put that list???

I wonder how many of these places are campgrounds vs. RV parks, and public vs. private?

For me, I pretty much only stay at public campgrounds. Only time I stay at an RV Park is for a rally - and then I don't really care about the facilities - I go in planning on being self-sufficient with services, etc., and the atmosphere is dependent upon the group I'm with.

I can only think of one campground I've been to that I probably will not return to. Unlike many others here, I have no qualms with recommending this campground to others (and have at times). It's well-run, in good condition, and not outrageously priced by local standards. I had no complaints about my stay there; it was a pleasant experience.

So why will I likely not return? Simple: it's not far from my home, and I see little point in spending full hookup rates to camp fairly close to where I live. The problem, if you want to call it that, is merely one of relative geography.

Snake River in Idaho Falls. Overpriced and they rented out my spot when I went to Walmart. Had to find a new spot when we got back. No sorry about that just said pick another spot. Never again!

X3 for Candy Hill at Winchester, VA.

Manager was drunk and smelled like a broken spilled liqueur bottle and every other word was a 4 letter swear word and he was beyond rude. Rides around on his golf cart and simply hassles the few campers on the main level. We'd (6 of us in 3 RV's) talked to other permanent or seasonal RV'ers who were on the lower level below us and they said "he's always like that, drunk as a skunk and always foul mouthed".

Was not a quiet place either as the busy train tracks are right along the side of the CG and very loud and so was the highway truck traffic close by. Very unpleasant place to stay and far from cheap which adds insult to idiocy. NEVER AGAIN!

Big Lagoon State Park in FL. Tow Vehicles parked all along the road leaving no room to maneuver, overgrown camp sites, dirty showers/rest rooms, staff that didn't care, etc.
We also had an old pickup back into the trailer at an intersection and took off. The staff wouldn't take a report, nor deal with the person who was camping there, saying the county Sheriff handles those. Since it was getting late and the gate was soon closing, I was told someone would get to us the next day...nothing. I called the sheriff's office and they said they don't do any reports, unless it is a major accident (injuries, car totaled, etc.) to jsut work with the insurance companies. I told them it was a hit and run and they said to just work with the insurance company. Just a wonderful topping to a terrible stay. I'd stay in a Walmart parking lot, before I went back there.
