I pull a 2008 HH II 27.5, I realize the discussion is about the 29.5 so I am only replying because I find the HH II series excellent. They are heavy but the quality and utility is very high. I have had no issues with any aspects of the construction and/or function (knock on wood). I average at least 3000 miles per year (three season only -- March to November)and the only repairs to date include: new tires (twice and I run LT's by Mich), new batteries (twice), new TV (flat screen), replaced rear window shades, replaced all inside bulbs (other than florescent) with LED and a water pump. I added a fantastic fan above shore to replace noisey tiny stock fan and vent covers all around. I also resurfaced the roof/slides (4 gallons of liquid rubber)as preventative maintenance this summer (no leaks or need indicated). I service the bearings every two years. My only complaint would be the faded decals. I am researching the best way to remove the old ones and likely "paint" instead. Happy Trails.

I had a 2005 29.5lktg and enjoyed it. I would make sure it had 50A if possible and a second AC unit. It struggled to maintain a cool temp in hot weather. Really, really make sure the caulking is good because even a little crack on the trim around the bottom walls will cause big problems. Of course, the HHII was not made at the main Hitchhiker facility, it was made down the road and had the lippert frame. It was less expensive.....

It was a good, efficient use of space for it's length and I pulled it all over the place with a 2500HD diesel PU.

We have 2004 HH DA 31.5 that we bought used in 2006. Been all over with it, sometimes pulling a boat behind. No issues with frame or side cracks. No rotting wood but I inspect roof and walls every year and recaulk as needed. It is our second NUWA unit and they are the best, IMO.

We purchased a 2007 HH Discover America 31LK. Ours has a white Young’s frame with the label still on it. We have put $ into it since purchase to upgrade & change some things, but are still happy with our purchase after being full time for 3 1/2 years. We purchased ours through the former factory in Chanute KS & highly recommend doing that. They check over the units before reselling them & are able to make any needed repairs & desired upgrades.

I forgot about the leaf springs. One broke in 2011, and all four sets of 6K springs were replaced with 7K springs. No problems after that.

If it has the Youngs frame, then that is good. On used units the sniff test is a good one. Walk in the trailer and if you smell odors, run away.

Check for signs of cracks and delam.

Check inside every cabinet for signs of leaks and stains from leaks. Climb up on the roof and check it out careful.

As noted, it is a good product if it has be taken care of.

Bought a 2007 HitchHiker 32.5 UKTG....ordered it in Sept 2006

Went FT in 2007 for 7 yrs towing that 34' FW all over the USA weekly.
2 Adults/1 large dog. Roughly 80,000 tow miles

*Had to replace Demco Glide Ride assembly 1st year---warranty---recalled item
*Had to have roadside wall reattached to horizontal frame member 2nd year
(Crack formed at panel vertical seam forward of bedroom slideout....sidewall frame weld broken/sidewall bolted to horizontal frame at factory---warranty)
*Had to replace OEM leaf springs 4th year due to flattening ---replaced with 4000# spring packs
(7K axles with 3200 rated springs OR 3500 rated springs----depended on WHO was rating them.-----Regardless...springs were NOT overloaded as we weighed FW every year----scaled weight 13,873# Total----3090# Pin weight so 10,783# on axles)
*Had to replace one gear drive on large slideout 5th year....tooth broke
*Had to replace ALL furnace floor registers cause I broke them when I stepped on them....cheap louvered punch thin metal. Replaced with thick laser cut ones

Still have it.......
Need to replace bedroom Fantastic Vent fan lid controller....gears stripped

Would I buy another NUWA Product.???

We have a 2008 Hitchhiker LKTG 29.5, purchased new in 2009. We average about 8,000 miles a year with it, and It has proved to be highly dependable. We are planning a second Alaska trip for next year.

As to the floor plan, I have yet to find another fiver that makes better use of space. Although physically only 31 feet (not counting the hitch) in length, it has as much storage as longer units. For example, having an L-shaped kitchen creates extra overhead cabinets. I also like having toliet and shower in separate rooms.

I have created even more storage by adding shelves to several cabinets where there was more vertical space than I needed. I did not like the reading lights over the bed, so I installed my own reading lights from Home Depot.

Thanks RoyF for taking the time to read and respond. Curious if you have had any problems with hitch flex or wood rot with your HH.. I have read on other forums this is a common problem with HH's.
