2015 Jayco Eagle Premier

I am posting this for a friend and apologise for length of message .
As a former Jayco Designer owner , my wife and I still look at Jayco Fifth Wheel Campers and consider another one but recently had an encounter with a friend . In April 2015 they had bought a brand new 2015 Jayco Eagle Premier . It is a beautiful camper at a distance and as he says looks good rolling down the road . It has hairline cracks all in the front cap , passenger side slide is so unstable , just to walk out into it is scary . He has several pages of problems that he is having and has had from the start .
For some reason according to him , no one wants to take care of the problems with this camper . The dealer Colerain RV in Cincinnati where he purchased the unit told him that he did not buy a million dollar camper and that maybe he would be better satisfied with another brand of camper and should just trade it off . WHAT ? Maybe you should consider a different line of work !
Next the Jayco company told him to take it to Dunlap RV in Lebanon Tn. and from my experience with them would be a total waist if time and was just that . Dunlap looked at it and went over the repairs to be made , said okay to the repairs and before he could get back to have them done , they called and said that they would not do the repairs . Who backed upon that deal ?
Next Jayco said they would come get the unit and take it back to factory for repairs in Nov. of 2015 then cancelled , Jan. 2016 and cancelled then April 2016 at the start of camping season but he stopped that .
Someone there had better get things together . This guy has Jayco Lemon signs all around his camper and people are stopping to see what is going on just as we did . This man is making his case heard . Right now the camper is sitting at Defeated Creek campgrounds which is one of the most popular campgrounds in the U.S.
People are going inside and seeing what things are wrong with this camper and how cheaply it was made .
I would not go to Cincinnati to purchase a camper as it is too far from home . Makes no difference million dollar camper or 60k camper customer service should do its job .
Whether this man is being a little picky or not which I think is not the case because I been in the camper and have seen for myself .
What happened to customer service at all cost ?
What happened to American pride in workmanship ?
What happened to Jayco ?

Were any of the problems there when the unit was picked up/during PDI? I for one won't hand over final payment until I go thru the unit/PDI and THAT'S after I already stopped by to look it over really well after it arrived at dealer so they can fix it before I actually pick it up. Yes, I'm only a couple miles from my dealer, but shouldn't make any difference cuz your plunking down a good size chunk of change regardless. So if it takes a couple trips, it takes a couple of trips.

However, if you're buying at a location that's 10+ hrs one way, it should be noted/documented that upon PDI, any discrepancies will be fixed while you are there and if it requires you to stay overnight or 2, dealer picks up the tab while you wait.

Like others, these problems posted by OP sounds a bit fishy.

Question to the OP, is this your friends 1st RV?

Simply put, all RV manufacturers produce rigs that have flaws, some are more glaring than others while some flaws remain hidden an unknown to the owner.

Jayco has a decent quality build on most of their rigs, but they are huge and are pumping them out at a rate very few RV manufacturers can attest to.

Every new RV has a 1 year warranty and a few have 2 years, Jayco has long provided a 2 year warranty that under most circumstance they have covered.

Appliances among other items contained within an RV have their own warranties and those issues are normally addressed by the product manufacturer.

Whether this story and the degree of actuality is factual, reaching out to Jayco directly, if given the opportunity they will typically take care of you.

For all we know if the owner hadn't had stopped them in April from coming to get it he would have a fully functioning camper and he himself would be a happy camper. Some times things just don't go the way we want them to. He needs to work with Jayco just as Jayco needs to work with him, their customer.

From the post, it appears the OP's "friend" is someone he just met in response to advertising the "friend" did about the trailer.

No one knows the real story. All we know is what the OP has said the trailer owner has said. I am throwing down the B.S. flag on this one.

I agree with this post. I have owned my Eagle since 2005 and I had a few problems early on but my dealer and Jayco have been a pleasure to work with. Jayco has always been known as company that takes care of their customers so unless that has changed there seams to be more to the story of the OP.

There are many and I mean many things that are wrong and some of them are problems with things that are made by outside contractors but there should be standards to be met by them .Problems with stabilizers, jack extension, center low point drains leak, faucet leaks,Fridge quit and repaired by owner, air cond. problems, keyless entry does not work, trim around areas on walls stuck on with two sided tape falls off, overhead cabinet doors that raise up have no struts and they just flop, brads sticking out off wood work, broken dinette chair, bath fan, bedroom door will not open all the way because off built in bedroom cabinets, constant sewer smell in bedroom with bathroom fan on,bad shower head . There is more but my goodness I think I will stop here.Million dollar unit or not these issues should be taken care off .
I have a 2003 Alumascape and think I will just keep it . Seeing quality issues like this from someone like Jayco and can't get them to take care of it just scares me .

Interesting topic - I think there are good and bad units with all the manufacturers. I've had three trailers personally and had a bad experience so far with only one of them. The first was made by Outdoors RV and it was a solid camper and I honestly didn't find one thing from the factory that I could complain about. The second was made by Northwood (aka Arctic Fox / Desert Fox) and I had 2 pages of issues. That was from a company that had a solid reputation for quality. Now I have a Keystone and couldn't be happier. I actually expected a little lower quality than that of the the Northwood but so far I haven't had one issue to complain about.

I haven't heard the same about Jayco as you have mentioned but it does shed some light on the customer service the dealerships are providing. I think we all have to understand that a majority of the experiences we have regarding service work is a reflection of the individual dealerships at not necessarily a reflection of the manufacturer. I am concerned though they offered to pickup the unit and then reneged on that offer. What happened there? Is there more to that story?

You didn't mention exactly what is going on with the camper except for the issue with the slide. That sounds like a serious issue that would need to be addressed. What else is going on with it? It's easy to get mad at the manufactorer but a lot of the time its the companies that make the crappy components that are the real issue. For example, in my new trailer there is a "USB Charging Station" that doesn't work in the bedroom. Well I hardly blame Keystone that the component doesn't work. It's a faulty component that does need to be replaced and I guess I could blame Keystone for using that Chinese company that made the component but unfortunantley I don't think we will ever escape cheap Chinese made components unless we're buying a million dollar diesel pusher!
