Kingpin Tripod Stabilizer

Piddlers

As stated in another thread we are making the switch from travel trailer to fifthwheel and I'm sure we will have more questions to come.

Would be interested to hear from everyone regarding kingpin tripod stabilizers. Pros and cons please.

Thanks in advance for your input.

I have a BAL bipod that I have used for many years that works just fine for us. With wheel chocks and rear stabilizers our trailer sits pretty firm even in high winds.

I nicknamed mine the octopus.

Sold it at a camp ground for a pittance.

good riddance.

I used one that I converted to a bipod for a few years and it did help, but got rid of it in favor of something very similar to the JT Strongarms. Just get them to begin with.

I wish someone would throw one away in my direction. I want to use it to mount my satellite dish off the front of the trailer.

I also purchased one and used it for one season. Sat behind my shed for the next 4 years until I threw it away last week. Steady-fast, x-chocks, entrance bottom step supported and 6 point leveling slightly raising the load off the tires is the best combo I have found.

I use one for the last three 5th wheel trailers we've owned. It's a aluminum bi pod.
You have to realize it can only stabilize side to side motion at the front of the trailer.
For side to side at the rear of the trailer I use a BAL telescoping stabilizer.

Then a set of adjustable chocks between the tires which eliminates fore and aft movement.
No up and down or side to side motion per my camping requirements. I'm rock solid.

I used one for one season. Set it out in front of the 5er at an RV park with $40 sign on it and sold in an hour. JT Strongarms are far better for us.

Gave it away. Steadyfast stabilizers and X-chocks now.

Other than tossing in the trash how did you get rid of it??
Since I now have JT Strongarms have no need for it.

I posted the fact that I was giving it away on here.... I shipped it to the guy.. i think it was gone the next day

I too added JT Strongarms and had no reason to drag that around...

Now I have the 6 point leveling system and really love it

Best bang for the buck I've ever got on stabilizing my 5th is a bottle jack under the frame next to the wheels on each side. Basically, stop the fiver's suspension from being suspension when you're living in it. Two bottle jacks at Harbor Freight were about $15/each if I remember right. The difference is very noticeable and the price is right.

I used one until I got the Steadfast stabilizers. It took the shake out of the front area but nothing really for the rear.
