Mosquitos

As camping season has just started here in Michigan, I wondered if anyone had some really good mosquito prevention tips for the camp area around the 5 th wheel? Especially with the virus they carry this year!
We are parked near a lake, and I swear the mosquitos were out already on the first nice day.
Thanks

More US cities are now expected to be vulnerable to Zika

The mosquito species driving the ongoing Zika virus outbreak appears to range over a far wider swath of the continental United States than previously estimated, stretching as far north as Ohio in the Midwest and New Jersey along the East Coast.

The revised estimates, based on a newly released map from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, suggest a far larger US population than previously believed could be exposed to the virus when mosquito season ramps up.

Experts call Aedes aegypti, or the yellow fever mosquito, an optimal insect to transmit Zika because they get infected themselves relatively easily, like to live among people, and prefer to feed on people instead of other animals.

...

Some studies have also shown that another species of Aedes mosquito โ€” the albopictus, or Asian tiger mosquito โ€” can likely spread the virus as well. But albopictus mosquitoes have a broader diet and donโ€™t spend as much time around people as aegypti mosquitoes.

1 large bottle of blue mouthwash peppermint, 3 cups epsum salt 3 cans of cheep stale beer. mix together and spray around campsite, patio, etc. Lasts from 60 to 90 days depending on amount of mouth wash. It works.

The Zika virus is spread by the Aedes Egyptii mosquito. You should be safe in Michigan. Here is a map of the Aedes Egyptii's range:

......"you should be safe in......."

Nobody is "safe"........:(

News is advising travelers from the areas on the map - or from foreign countries to continuing spraying with Deet (or?) upon return to the non-infested areas/zones of the USA - as you may have been bitten by a Zika, and although *you* may not suffer any ill effects - you still carry the virus for about two weeks.

A "normal" mosquito may bite you, which then may become a Zika carrying mosquito - and expanding the areas/zones.

Correct info - who knows for sure!..:h

Bottom line - use the techniques posted, and add your sure-fire mosquito protection to the thread...:C

Box Fan

Set a box fan facing the length of the RV where you will be sitting. Mosquito's can't fly when there is wind. Been using one for years now it works.

Every summer I try to eat a clove of raw garlic a day. It keeps mosquito's and all other bugs and some people away from ya. It really works.

Don't worry Dano - After the first winter freeze, the mosquitos are pretty much dormant until mid spring.
