I have a 2012 new off the lot Big Country. I did not have a truck at all, so i think i have a say. First off i did some research and found that the 38 ft. ran at 17000 lbs. So i bought a brand new 2011 trailer kit GMC SIERRA 3500 HD long box 4 wheel drive crew cab and put a 16000k hitch by Reese. No dully just 4 wheels. My wife and I fill it to the 9s. It rides just fine. 4 wheels are a whole lot cheaper than a dully and less repairs. You have to think parking space, can wife drive that big a truck i do not think so, mine would kick me around the block. You do not need a Dully.

Not sure what manufacturer that applies to but it sure isn't Ford. All you get with Ford' camper package is an overload spring and torsion bar.

It's doubtful that your trailer weighs as much as you think. Sounds as if your numbers are the weight of the trailer and the maximum cargo in it. You should visit a set of scales to see where you really stand.

I have a 3/4 ton diesel crew cab, and I limited myself to 11K dry weight and 2K dry kingpin lbs. in a trailer.

All of the Big Country and Big Horn models, except maybe the smallest one, will exceed the capabilities of single rear wheels due to their limited pin weight. Such trailers need a 1 ton dual rear wheel.

Thanks Lyle. The bad thing is trying to find out if it's legal in my state, SC. Then when you move into a neighboring state if it's legal there, especially with the controversy surrounding it's designation. I still would like to know where I can get one. thanks. Glen

I got mine off Craigslist.

I see you have a single wheel trailer with your bagger on back. I would like to do the same. Where can i find a unit like that? It sure looks nice. Glen

Glen, that's a 2-wheel swivel-wheel. You can see the off wheel just behind the LR tire of the FW. Make sure that they are legal in your state, and where you might be traveling. They're OK in some states, but others define them as a "trailer", so it's a double-tow, and aren't legal. And to confuse matters, in some states they are =not= defined as a trailer, so don't count as a double, but the LEOs don't know this and will cite you for a double.

Intresting I pull a 33' 5er with a Ram 2500 and it handles the load fine. The 5er has a 12,360# GVWR and tows at about 11,000#.

2015 F-150 HD Payload would have no problem with that, but that is another thread altogether!
For those looking askance at my sig, my rig has a GVWR of 10K, but tows at 9500 lbs with a TV rated at 11K.

Don't need brakes either, but both sure come in handy.

Taught both daughters to drive a dually crew cab. Took there driving test in a reg cab C2500! What is the problem with women driving big pickumups! I even see some driving class 8 rigs. Pickumups are puny compared to those rigs! I also know a few that are captains on 100ton boats too!

Oh, you only need about 10hp to move 100k lbs on a level at less than 5 mph! Just need the correct gearing to make the torque large enough to move the subject!
